  • I would like to say after being on phone for 50 minutes a nice lady confirmed my refund and sent me an email .Phone is the best way.I used the 01617749879 .Keep trying folks
Did you have to wait until cancelled flight was shown in "manage my booking"?
Have flights booked on 18th April so only change flight option showing and as we were going to see 80-year-old in-laws that isn't going to happen.
    Thanks.
    Hi again
On my account it still looks like my flight is active but I have had written confirmation of refund. My flight was for the 4th April from Faro
  • Hi all, I know it's been asked above but I can't see an answer:

Are we giving up any rights by doing nothing before the original flight schedule date?

I would like a refund but can't get through on the phone. I am quite happy to wait and not in a rush for the money. I can always go to S75 credit card resolution if need be. But I need to know I still can if I let the departure date (this Friday Apr 3 in my case) pass?
  • Hi everyone.
I booked our family's holiday flights with Easyjet for the end of June (£600).
Is it too early to try getting a refund from Easyjet? Do I use my travel insurance?
    Many thanks for any advice.

Hi, just seen this on their Twitter:
For customers on cancelled flights, please remember that you do not have to contact us prior to your original flight date. Please be assured that your entitlements in case of cancelled flights are available for up to a year after your flight was originally due to depart. (1/2)
Our teams are exceptionally busy and also operating with fewer resources due to the lockdown measures. Please only contact us now if it is very urgent. We understand this is frustrating and for that, we're sorry. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Excellent, thanks @rogue999

So after 2 and a half hours on hold I finally got through, the experience wasn't great.

They tried 3 times to fob me off with vouchers even when  I was quoting the Eruopean Union directive that states we are elligible for a full cash refund.

He refused to give me an email confirmation of the refund, but did give me a customer service reference number "To make my life easier".

3-5 days refund should be in.

I would be cautious waiting for requesting a refund, if the airline doesn't survive or the government grants them some leeway you may find it harder to get a full cash refund.

They won't give you any refunds until THEY have cancelled the flight, they aren't doing that for msot flights until a few days before at the moment.

Up until that point they will only let you rebook. So wait till you get confirmation it is cancelled, but then be prepared to fight for a refund, they don't give them lightly.

There was a button to click on for refunding a flight two weeks ago, I know because I used it to get a refund for my flight out to Lanzarote. Now my flight back is cancelled and that refund button has been replaced with a 'manage disruption' one which ironically has caused a lot more disruption.. It would've made life easier for their "skeletal staff" if Easyjet hadn't made thousands of people try to call them instead of simply clicking a refund button.

Lots of people saying we have to be understanding.

But as late as March 21st Easyjet were issuing a £175 million payout to shareholders with over £60million for the CEO alone, at the same time as pleading to the government for help and an extension to having to pay the refunds their customers are legally entitled to.All the while they are making a refund as difficult as possible to obtain.

This is disgraceful behaviour and shoud not be excused.
I agree the behaviour of Easyjet is disgraceful. They are trying to pressurise customers towards changing the flight to another date. They also do not want to bleed cash out by making refunds despite their generous dividend to their shareholders, hence the pathetic email this weekend offering flights for £29.99 each way. Beware of choosing this option as the T&C attached to it state that if the flight costs more than your original cancelled flights you will have to pay the difference. However, if the new flight costs less then NO credit will be given . I would continue to pressurise them for a refund and at the same time use visa chargeback if you are within 120 days of the transaction or S75. I hear some people saying the banks will not help unless Easyjet refuse refund...by the very fact they are not responding to calls etc is refusal. Take screen shots of your phone call attempts and generic emails from Easyjet. Place pressure on your credit card provider. Again - good luck and stay strong.
