I'm in almost exactly the same situation - Flying Manchester to Faro 3-13 May.  Currently the flights are showing as still flying on the EJ website, but they are only cancelling them a few days before they fly out.  So I'd expect a cancellation notification at the start of May.  At that point, you can try and get a refund but as others state - there's no option online to get a refund (they removed it from their website) so you need to ring up, which is almost impossible or use their online contact us form, which takes up to 28 days to respond (if you're lucky).

The hot topic is the removal of the online refund request option, which given the timing would suggest they are making it difficult to obtain a refund.
  • I just successfully phoned the easyJet number given earlier in this thread 0161 774 9879 (phoned at 8am when phoneline opened and waited for about an hour and half to be picked up).  Spoke to a very nice man who firstly offered to change flights or give me vouchers, but when I said I wanted refund was absolutely fine and went through the refund process with me for one flight on 7th April and return flight (separate booking) on 15th April.  Still waiting for confirmation emails but fingers crossed this has worked.
  • Hi,
We had our return fights cancelled by Easyjet due to the current Covid-19 situation, and chose to have a refund of our monies. This was done on the 16/3/20 and we are still yet to receive our money (£443.50p)? We too have tried calling (no answer), Messenger (no reply) and emailing but nothing. Any advice on what to do would be very much appreciated.

    TIA Steve G

Wait.  They're snowed under.  Everything is taking ages right now and normal timescales are out of the window.

I have flights booked for a family of 10 for half term week at the end of May at a cost of £3,200. They are not cancelled yet, but as EasyJet announced their planes are grounded for 2 months, seems inevitable. It took a year to plan and get everybody together for this holiday so not easy to re-organise within the time-frame of the current schedule, the best thing for us would be to move our flights to the same time next year. EasyJet's only option for us as "flights are operating as normal" is to move the flights to another date within the current schedule. There is the option to move them again once the next schedule is released. If the flights are cheaper they will not refund any money, but if more expensive I will be charged the difference.

I could re-book flights for all 10 of us and actually lose half of the money I have already paid. Also, it is possible they will start charging to change flights again, as "change fees will apply for changes made once the fee waiver has ended." so more out of pocket.

I have read on the website that once the flight is cancelled they could offer me a flight voucher. But the voucher is only valid for 6 months. Absolutely of no use to us.

I would happily leave my money with EasyJet and accept a 'placeholder' for the same flights next year, at the same cost. I think this would be a great idea and help others in my position. It would also help the company as they would still have my money.
But how do I get in touch with EasyJet? My messages have remained unanswered, as have their phones.

Does anyone else think a 'placeholder' would help their situation?
  • I've had flights cancelled and can only see the option of rescheduling... have reached out but only automated response so far. Chat service is off too. Is calling the only way to sort? Thanks

yes - have a read of the other posts and prepare for a few hours on hold
personally I am going to wait a few weeks before trying to get refunds for last weeks cancelled flights (have spent too long chasing them on social media and too long on the phone trying to get through)

Hi all - managed to get through and request a refund so wanted to update how i did it. Calling the standard UK number never worked for me, either had the engaged tone or a automated message which then hung up on me. I tried the number that another user mentioned in this forum (01617749879), and it does actually put you straight on hold. First time i tried for 2.5 hours near the end of the day and it cut off about 7pm (probably when they shut). I then tried ringing today about 11am and after 2hr40min on hold i got through. My flights were last week and both had been cancelled by easyJet (i booked direct). So I requested a refund. The guy tried 3 times to offer me 'a refund in the form of a voucher'. I told him I would not be travelling within 6 months and would like the refund. After putting me on hold to 'see what he could do' he eventually gave me a full refund. He gave me a call reference number and said I wouldn't get an email but shouldnt have any issues. Weirdly i did get an email 5 mins later detailing the refund amounts. He told me to wait 3-5 days for a refund so I will let you know on here if I actually recieve that.

Another option i was considering is to email customer services customer.support@easyjet.com so you have a record of contact, and then if your flights were cancelled by easyJet you could request a chargeback from your card supplier, as i believe even if it is a debit card, your bank can request this if they have evidence that a product/service wasn't fulfilled. (This is what my bank Monzo told me in an email they sent).

Best way to sort it quicker would be to try the number i mentioned, good luck all!
  • I'm curious to know how many others were able to get onto the easyjet website, right after the cancellation email and click on the refund option under manage bookings?  I was able to and its still showing as 'refund processing'.  I even have the email from just two weeks ago telling me the refund is  being processed and to allow up to 7 days.   Still nothing but guessing they have a huge backlock and I'm hopeful I'll get my money back (I've even taken a screen shot of everything).  But slightly worried I won't...
