Hi there, We applied for a refund on Easyjet as they cancelled the flight and we have just had a mail back (text below) saying we are not entitled to a refund. Is that right? What should next steps be? No point in ringing them you just get cutoff. Any help gratefully received.

    EU261 won't apply.  Easyjet's covid-19 refund request form is at https://www.easyjet.com/en/refund-form.
  • Hi,
I was due to fly to Amsterdam next weekend with a friend. Said friend booked and organised payment for the flights on our behalf.
We have decided not to take vouchers as friend is pregnant and would be unable to travel for the foreseeable once flights are back in action. We will wait for formal cancellation of flight. However, I am wondering if I would be able to rearrange my flight and transfer hers to my partner for us to book to go away at a later date? Any thoughts on whether this is possible?

I wondered this as I'm due to fly at the end of May (even if the flight was to go, there'd be little point as Spain is not open to foreign visitors (due to fly into France just to complicate matters) ) and was thinking of 'donating' my flight to my son.

Looking at my account with Easyjet they were offering a flight and name change free of charge so I would say it's theoretically possible but wouldn't it be a better idea to have a cash refund ?
  • Hello, I paid £300 for flights in May, we moved the flights to November and didn’t have to pay a difference because they were £100. If I decided to cancel the flights and asked for a refund, would I be refunded the £300? Also if I decided to change the date again and the new flights were £300 would I have to pay an extra £200 due to the November flights only being worth £100, or would I not get charged due to my original flights actually costing £300? Not sure how it will work.

Hi, I've had my flights cancelled and I've filled the form out to request a refund. The problem I have is that the credit card I used to book my flights has now cancelled and the account closed. Has anybody had this issue and if so what did you/easy jet do?
I'm going to try and call them tomorrow but I understand this may be an impossible task.

Call your old credit card company and ask what happens,  as be easier than trying to contact EJ

  • i have flights booked (£1200) in August. I have cancelled my holiday accommodation as I cannot afford a holiday (because of reduced income now (booked separately) and do not want to use the flights I have booked as the holiday wont be affordable any more. I see that if I get a voucher from Easyjet, it is only valid until April 21, before next years holiday season. what can I do??

Take what's on offer now, or wait to see what happens.

Hello. I have a package holiday booked with easyJet due to travel August to Turkey. I have paid my deposit only, and the remaining balance is due to be paid the beginning of June. I have had a email today from easyJet advising me if I don’t pay the remaining balance I will receive a credit on my account for my deposit. I don’t wish to travel this year, and I won’t be paying the remaining balance. Due to the current circumstances do I have to accept this credit or am I able to ask for a refund back? Or can I claim through my credit card? Any help be appreciated.
I am in the same situation as yourself. I have made a claim to easyjet for the return of my deposit based on their own T&C's. Section 13 makes interesting reading, as in Easyjet state that they observe the advice of the FCO and provide full refunds for Pandemics.

Below is part of my email to Easyjet:

Section 13: "You can cancel your booking without paying cancellation charges if the performance of the travel services included in this package, or the carriage of passengers to your destination, is significantly affected by unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances. In such circumstances, we will arrange for your booking to be terminated and for you to receive a full refund. We will observe advice provided by the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office in connection with all but essential travel."

unavoidable and extraordinary circumstance” means a situation beyond the control of the party who invokes such a situation and the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. These include war, threat of war, riots, civil disturbances, terrorist activity and its consequences, industrial disputes, natural and nuclear disasters, fire, epidemics, health risks and pandemics, unavoidable and unforeseeable technical problems with transport for reasons beyond our control or that of our suppliers, closed or congested airports (save overbooking), hurricanes and other actual or potential severe weather condition."

The FCO advice FROM 4 April 2020 is not to embark on any non-essential travel “indefinitely”

I am entitled to cancel my holiday on the FCO advice issued on 4 April 2020 and receive a refund of my deposit under section 13 of your Booking Terms.
