  • We booked a flight from Dubrovnik to Manchester for 18 May (flying out with a different carrier) and had a cancellation email on 23 March that only offered rebooking. We thought we'd wait a bit to put in for a refund but now the phone line has closed and the online claim form appears to have vanished. I'm out of work right now and really need my money back. Rebooking isn't an option as our island-hopping trip took a lot of planning for accommodations and ferries as well as flights. I am in despair right now.

I've booked a package holiday to Lanzarote at the end of June but want to cancel now. We have paid the deposit and it's 66 days before we travel so we are within the' more than 60 days period' and so according to the T&Cs we will lose the deposit only. The exception clause says that some holidays are non-refundable in which case 100% of the cancellation charges will apply. I have checked our booking and it doesn't say anywhere that the holiday is a non-refundable package - how would I know? as it doesn't say anywhere on the online booking details that it is non-refundable am I safe to cancel and only lose the deposit? Please help.

Without seeing your paperwork I doubt anyone can give a definitive answer.

Hi, we booked online so all we have is the email confirmation which doesn't say anything about being non-refundable and the details of the holiday in the online  'my booking' section, not sure what else there is?

Then the only way to find out for sure is to ask them.

We can't ask them because their call centres and phone lines are closed - you can contact via an online enquiry form but could take 28 days to respond - we don't have that long sadly. I've already sent one enquiry and no response?

Hi, if you go on to their website and access Latest travel updates relating to coronavirus (COVID-19) there's a link to the online form this forum won't let me add the link unfortunately - try that and good luck :-)

I suppose if you want to cancel anyway, what difference does it make?  If you don't pay the balance and your loss is limited to your deposit, then that's ok.  If you are liable for the rest then it will take them many months to enforce the payment and they may not bother.  I can't guarantee they won't pursue it but surely that's better than paying the full amount, cancelling and being sure of losing it?

EasyJet now offers refund via website but it's a bit hidden. https://www.easyjet.com/en/policy/coronavirus/online-support/q0
Go through the questions and choose 3rd option - Other when you have choice of  re-scheduling, voucher, other. And then on next page choose last option below voucher. There's a text that  if you're not happy with the above options, you can choose refund.
