  • UPDATE! Our flights were due to leave on 2nd April, to Spain for a wedding which has subsequently been postponed till 2021. Easyjet cancelled the outbound flight 1 week before departure, although the return flight had not been cancelled. Lost a few hours on a Saturday trying to get through to the a couple of the numbers listed before, no luck. Then decided to email the CEO and customer services director. Then made contact via Twitter message- got a reply within 24 hours asking for flight details etc...advised it would be 3-5 days for refund to be processed. Surprised to see the entire amount refunded onto my credit card around 48 hours later. I would suggest giving up on the telephones if you are seeking a straightforward refund, create a Twitter account and make contact that way, they were surprisingly responsive!

    Because if they did that, thousands would do it - vouchers don't cost them anything, but a refund does. 
    You'll need to try to keep phoning or use Twitter as someone else suggested to get a refund.

    I don't follow. Vouchers do cost, ie they are used toward the cost of a flight.

    Cash costs them now - vouchers don't cost them until the wheels leave the tarmac and you're on the way to Spain / America etc - a long way into the future. 
    The airlines will have income coming in at that time to pay for the flight you used vouchers for - but they have very little to no income now.

    But the point is that you said that "vouchers don't cost them anything", when clearly that is not so!

    They have not sent me a cancellation notice.
    I Emailed for a refund and the reply said I would lose all my money. 
    Tried to call them and a recorded message saying all lines are now closed. Should I just turn up at the departure gate. We only live 20 mins from the airport. 
    Help please.

    You have to wait until THEY officially cancel it. Do not, repeat NOT, cancel it yourself.

    Turning up at the airport is pointless given Easyjet have grounded all flights.

    22 nd April is still 9 days away, Ryanair cancelled one of mine with about 4 days to go, so just sit it out and wait. Under no circumstances cancel anything yourself.
