Covid-19 Isolation Support Thread

We are in lock down now apart from DH's medication and his 3 monthly injections, the latter is due 8th April and is already sorted out by the surgery. He cannot go without these are they are for his cancer and his diabetes. I may have to do a run to the pharmacy for his meds as their driver has self isolated, so no deliveries at present, but we still have 2 weeks before they are due. Our DD would get his meds but she and her family have self isolated today as she and DGS have a cough and a temperature. It maybe nothing ( I hope ) but they can't take the risk of infecting others, as DD and Sil are both teachers at different schools and there are about 2000 children, plus other staff to think about. There seems to be a lot of very kind people about locally and there is a face book site set up to help anyone in need. How wonderful that kindness seems to be out weighing selfishness at the moment. I hope it continues.Stay safe everyone.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently9

Well I have decided not to do that shop, cope with the leak and let my hair grow (awful thought lol) but feel it's not worth the risk. Just read it stays in the air for up to 6 hours it's really frightening now and the thought of having to stay in for an unknown time is also frightening but it's what we'll have to do. Take care all as I said it's nice to have this thread and feel connected and talk, hope you don't mind me being here I read the forum every day but have not posted for a very long time.
Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

@nannywindow - our village FB group has a network of volunteers who are doing pharmacy pickups. They will collect your repeat prescription form from outside your house, take it to the village shop to go in a single batch each day to the surgery (with the nurse) and the medication is dispensed by the surgery (because we're three miles away) and sent back to the village shop. Your local volunteer will then drop it off on the doorstep. It might be worth seeing whether you have something similar.

I called up my MH service yesterday and the man I spoke to said they were still open but that he didn't know how long for as a nearby building is being cleaned/disinfected. I think I will cancel as my psychologist appointment tomorrow is during the afternoon school run and I will not be able to stay away from people on the walk there. There are always lots of kids hanging around near the shops as I'm near a few schools and it is really busy at that time. Hopefully she can call me instead or just postpone the CBT until after this happens.
The delivery of my cat's special food arrived today, luckily. That should last him for two months at least.
My husband had to check that his cancer treatment a couple of years ago didn't mean that he was in a at risk group. The out of hours GP he spoke to said that he wasn't so he still needs to go to work on London Underground.
The only thing I definitely need to do outside the house is pick up a prescription tomorrow so I will go at a time that I hope won't be too busy.

Just before the weekend we started non contact delivery/collection plans with some local shops - Here are some ideas floated & used already:
Ring or text to place order take contactless card or new plastic note. start a tab to pay for goods/accrue change. use a cheap plastic bucket to collect goods text to say you're outside ready to complete the transaction. Establish rules before hand such as don't come in the shop, don't touch the car etc
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?8 -
Thank you Greenbee. I have already bookmarked our local FB help group but hadn't thought of them collecting meds !We have just read that the TPTB are closing all schools in Wales by Friday and they could remain closed until the summer holidays. This will have a knock on effect as people will have stay home to look after their children, from NHS workers to transport services to supermarket workers etc. Scary times but I'm hoping everyone will be ok.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently8

I got up early today to take advantage of Iceland's, first 2 hrs of Wednesday for 'at risk' people. What a waste of time....all of these shelves were completely empty:- bread, milk, LLmilk, pasta, pasta sauces, anything at all with the word 'antibacterial' on it, disinfectant, loo rolls, kitchen roll, baby wipes, paracetomol. I had a look in Sainsbury's too and they were similarly stocked, (or unstocked!!). Also tried Superdrug & Boots for paracetamol but they were also out of stock - it's the only painkiller I can take too. I haven't been panic buying or stockpiling anything, (stupid me!), and now cannot get a delivery slot with any supermarket for under 3 weeks time. I guess it's gonna be black coffee and crackers and a headache for a few weeks6

Just been advised to self isolate for a week. Suddenly developed a tickly cough and a slight pressure in my chest. I don’t have a temperature , Haven’t read through the whole thread, wondered how others symptoms have been. In hindsight, I have been feeling a little tireder than usual too. Hunkering down7
