Covid-19 Isolation Support Thread

Phew...thanks so much, that is very reassuring to hear. Just a bit unnerving to get a call like that out of the blue. Think I’m suffering from isolation fever! First had to deal with the plumber, (all sorted), then had the police on my doorstep checking on some youths & antisocial behaviour then the. phone call....just all too much at the moment. Time for a large G & T methinks!MrsCD said:Miro..... And breathe.......
My Dad had a letter, I think from Matt Hancock, saying that he might get a phone call from that number, asking about shielding, and they would ask those questions to confirm it was him they were talking to. Don't worry if you don't want to answer them, they understand.
Did you get the plumbing fixed? Just make sure that anyone who comes in washes their hands, and give them kitchen roll to dry on, then throw away. So long as they keep their distance, you'll be ok. Take care. x6 -

After 'the phone call' I started to be able to get 'priority' supermarket delivery slots with both Sainsbury's and Iceland so it must have done some good. Then 2 weeks ago, out of the blue, one of those government food boxes arrived - much to my surprise. Then another this last week. I really don't need it now tho if I continue to be able to get a Sainsbury delivery but I have no idea how you go about stopping them!! Are they due to stop anyhoo after the 10-12 week shielding? Does anyone know? As a veggie there was stuff that I don't eat along with other stuff that I probably will not eat but I have put that aside to take to a food bank collection when it's possible. I felt very grateful when the first one arrived but there seems to be soooo much food I'm a little overwhelmed now with it and would much rather it goes to someone that needs it more than I do.
Had a slight cough/cold/sore throat/temperature the other week so got one of those corvid-19 test kits from gov.uk to do by post. Seemed very efficient...got the kit the following day, (Thurs), posted it back and received the result, (negative, yay!!), by text and email the following Tuesday. Hope everyone is well and as happy and content as is possible under these strange circumstances.....8 -
Miro, our Asda priority pass is until October. It should say somewhere on your account. So pleased you are getting enough food, even if it's a bit too much for you! Asda will let me suspend a week if I need to, but as I'm shopping for 4 households, I'm not likely to do that. I'm glad you're ok,and didn't have the virus. At least the system has worked well for you. I think the gov.uk page where you register as vulnerable lets you change the information, to say you don't need any help. Take care and stay safe. xx2026 Fashion on the ration

If you tell them you don't want the food boxes, you'll lose your priority shopping deliveries. Just save up what you don't use and give i a foodbank. I've been donating mine but they didn't fetch it this week so I have extra pasta, rice and ambrosia creamed rice [!]I've taken the fresh veg out and left the tins and stuff in...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5

That's probably the best thing to do. I'm just going off what we did for my dad. We said he had help getting shopping, so he hasn't had a box from the gov, but we still have a priority pass for Asda.-taff said:If you tell them you don't want the food boxes, you'll lose your priority shopping deliveries. That's sad news @DigForVictory - I was only laughing yesterday about his post about his Mrs finding a few slices of bread in the freezer (when we were all getting desperate about food supply sources here) then promptly burning most of them in the toaster. It really made me guffaw at the time and it popped into my mind yesterday again. Funny that. Thanks for letting us know. My sincere condolences to his loved ones.2
