Good grief, she looks so pleased with herself too.

@candygirl  I think it was you who mentioned getting a slot with Iceland?  I'd registered on their site a bit ago when a new store opened nearby and hadn't used it yet.  But I went for a look, nothing doing, but I returned later, with the intention of closing the tab and it flashed and some slots popped up green so I managed to snag a slot for tomorrow, so I'm hopefully going to be able to refill my rapidly emptying freezer etc.   Their site is quick and very easy to use and I checked out through PayPal and it only took a handful of seconds and I've been back and amended it too, with no issues.  I shall certainly use them again.

Asda haven't had any slots since I got one 10 days ago (and I've wasted a lot of time trying - not to mention the hours just trying to check out and timing out and losing the slot I did have and not getting what I wanted) and I've not been contacted, as they said they were doing, they mustn't have connected my account with my husband on the 'extremely vulnerable' Government list.  I did however find a local fruit and veg supplier who usually supply restaurants, who are now selling a limited range to the public and had a delivery earlier with fruit, bread, flour, yogurt and eggs and a huge 'catering' block of mature cheddar.  I was disproportionately happy to see my fridge with stuff in it!

I also ordered some treats from Amazon and they were delivered earlier and whilst I am very happy with the idea of 'contactless delivery' - the driver's interpretation of that was to lob it over my 7' garden wall into the unseen garden beyond.   :#  I only found it when I wondered why I'd got a text saying it had been 'handed to the resident' and it wasn't by the front door, so went looking.

That makes me so angry. There were nurses in tears on TV because there was nothing left in the supermarkets for them to buy after they'd finished working. Why buy vast amounts of perishable food and why buy food that her children won't eat? I can understand her wanting to keep a fortnight's food in the house in case she has to self isolate but that is just beyond belief!

If you have a local Age UK office they may be able to help with food parcels.  Our local office has lots of different parcels from an essentials box for £10 which has milk, yogurts, cheese, ham, butter, eggs and bread.  There is a fruit and veg box for £10.  A one person box for £25 which has all the above plus chicken breasts, sausages, sugar, tea, coffee, pasta, biscuits, crackers, cereal etc.  There is also a 2 person box for £45.  These are all delivered to the persons door.
There are some local places started doing this round here as well, e.g. Booths and some independents.
It's all very well but my wife has a very severe dairy allergy so they are no use to her.
She needs vegan stuff that they never include, even many breads have milk in - you'd be amazed how many things do.
I managed to get a Tesco slot three weeks away but only by queueing at midnight.
And we have two Asda click-and -collect lined up but we are over 70 and not supposed to go out !
Now both Asda and Morrisons are only putting up slots for 7 days which is absolutely useless.
Why aren't the government or councils making the supermarkets sort this out properly?
We have Nectar, Tesco, Booths and Morrisons cards so they all know our age but have offered us no help at all.

you say they all know your age, but how exactly? there seems to be no provision made for entering ones date of birth on either my nectar or tesco club cards, and as far as i recall neither morrisons or any of the other supermarkets i have signed up with in the past ever asked for my d-o-b either. (boots i don't know about).
how much simpler it might have been if they had!
