It means that when you login, you are automatically offered a slot
Did you join next door? Have you managed to source and food at all?
Im getting ready to call favours in from friends in Yorkshire, They aren't near Leeds but Im sure someone knows someone who can help. Or Im willing to send a parcel from NI to you?
Its been playing on my mind that someone I 'Know" its not getting the help they need5 -
If you are on the extremely vulnerable list and have registered on the Gov.uk website you will get help through your local council if you have no-one to shop for you. They will be contacting people very soon they say, and then delivering food parcels. My issue is that if you are extremely vulnerable you dont really want anyone in your household going out either, so the government needs to be getting these priority delivery slots sorted now. We are OK, but our food stocks are gradually being depleted and I just have to hope we actually get what we need when the shopping comes next week.4

I volunteered for the NHS as a Community Response Volunteer the morning after it was announced and this afternoon got the email that I was accepted, ID checks etc. Hopefully in the next week the help for the extremely vulnerable having someone to do their shopping should increase massively, well thousands of volunteers massively. In turn I hope that might free up some capacity for the vulnerable, like my parents, for online deliveries. For anyone not in the vulnerable group I would say please do your shopping in person, exercising all the social distancing etc, and free up slots for the vulnerable5

I had to go out yesterday in the end as I needed to do bank stuff, get things from the chemist and, of course, get some fresh food. I honestly felt like a criminal for breaking the 'rules' but needs must! The helping agencies I have been in touch with have all said they would get back in touch....still waiting....and no joy yet with supermarket online shopping. A friend of mine who lives 50 miles away has offered to do a big shop for me this Saturday, (doesn't seem to be a problem with deliveries or supplies in the sticks), and come over with it at the crack of dawn on Sunday, (to avoid any checks!), but we are debating if this is within the current rules and guidelines re driving. The more I listen to the news it seems like the longer we are going to be living like this....just heard today that older people are likely to be the last to be 'released' from isolation back into the world when things do start to improve. In the meantime it would be wonderful to have the reassurance of knowing that a supermarket delivery would be possible for those living in voluntary isolation for medical reasons as we have been asked to do. I don't need a free food parcel from the government or a charity....I just want to be able to get a paid for service such as has been possible until recently. Rant over....been in a really grumpy mood today...sorry!5 -
For those of you 'timing out' on your Supermarket slots, just put ANYTHING on that adds up to the £40 minimum.... wine is quick and easy. Pay for it and you will get an email confirming your order. You then have up till (usually) midnight the day before delivery to amend your order. You can delete and add without problems... don't forget to delete the wine!
I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy5 -
I know what you mean @Miró - I don't especially want any freebies, I'd rather it went to a foodbank for someone who really can't afford food - as whilst we have no income at the moment while he undergoes treatment, I have enough savings for food shopping whilst we wait for benefit claims to be processed. So I know there will be many who are worse off.
I'd be delighted to know I could place a food order once a fortnight and get my prescriptions delivered. I don't even mind paying for services, I'm not after handouts, just the opportunities. Further to my earlier comment, my own prescription items were delivered today - hopefully my husband's will follow shortly - so that's a weight off today! I got most of my recent order YorkshireLass - except eggs (which I have for breakfast, so am missing them), a pork joint and for some reason, they dumped my chocolate - I'm sure they could have done a substitute of something chocolately - it's normally a whole aisle-full!
I'm not sure what my local council are offering, as the facebook page they've set up doesn't look very promising - but it's early days. One of our issues is that we live right on the furthest extreme of the district, so our address is often looked at and dismissed as not being in the area - I've been having this battle for 33 years. The other side of my road is with the adjacent council.
Thank you for volunteering @ejmo - it's much appreciated by those of us stuck inside for several weeks. Thank you for doing that!

@Chrystal - that was what I did - but all it did was double the time I spent trying to check out, although it did secure the slot. BUT - I had an email from Asda earlier and they say they're altering their systems and you can now only make 1 amendment to an order and only in the last two days before your delivery and only until 10pm the night before, not midnight, as it was. So you'd need to check any terms before shopping, as they seem to be perpetually changing, as they try and hone their systems to cope just now.4

You are allowed to leave home to get food
Your friend is allowed to drive to you to deliver food, I drove to my daughters yesterday, 75 miles each way, left the parcel on the doorstep , never even knocked because if the grandkids had seen me, id have lost it, just rang when I left the road.
You are right, you will be the last group of people to have restrictions lifted. As I see it, seeing whats happening elsewhere, the lockdown will lift very very slowly. Im guessing that the first restriction will be we will be allowed out freely, keeping social distancing, be allowed to visit family, but everywhere were we would congregate will remain closed. We wouldn't be allowed to have parties etc, Then manufacturing will go back, then slowly shops will be able to reopen, cafes, restaurants , theatres, cinemas, play parks, gyms etc. But I think they will want us of working age and ability to be out there safely first just incase we end up with it growing in numbers agin5 -
Miro you have every right to feel grumpy today. Unfortunately it has taken time for supermarkets to get things sorted out - what with the panic buying being closely followed by a lockdown, they haven't had much of a chance to deal with everything.
We've seen vans buzzing past on a daily basis (only on a small residential road) and I wonder if it wouldn't be more efficient to deliver to each village/area of town on a particular day each week to cut down on journeys and give more delivery time. A rellie also suggested putting in more drive thru click and collect areas in supermarket car parks to keep people out of shops. This would better protect staff too.
Greenbee, I've had success with making 'risotto' out of buckwheat - fried some onion in oil, rinsed buckwheat and popped it into the oil for about 3 mins, then started adding the veg stock bit by bit until buckwheat was cooked, plopped some cooked leeks, courgettes and pine nuts in and it was really tasty. Got the thumbs up from OH so will definitely make it again.
Been enjoying phoning people who I know to be on their own. Caught up with an aunt I've not seen/spoken to for about 14 years today which was lovely. I do hope we won't all get too busy again to keep in touch when all this is over.
