Covid-19 Isolation Support Thread

Miró said:Starting to feel really worried now as I have no milk, fresh fruit, veg or bread left. No supermarket slots available with any supermarket at all here now and the local Waitrose is being reported as constantly having queue's all round the car park for the one in/ one out system. I'm in voluntary isolation due to potential respiratory problems and age. I didn't get the NHS England letter re the 'extremely vulnerable' but I have self referred online. There have been a couple of groups asking for volunteer helpers on Facebook but no details of how to actually access help, also had a leaflet with the same thing. What does one do when there is no family or neighbour to help?
I've started having milk & eggs delivered by a real milkman & I have some lovely, helpful neighbours. Most of my local supermarkets were fully booked for deliveries for the next 3 weeks but Waitrose sent me an email offering me a priority slot. I had to get help from a neighbouring family before I could get to the minimum £60 order. Some of the restrictions are bonkers: I couldn't order 6 loose bananas, only 3, but I could order a bag of 6 bananas! There's a limit on how many tins, jars & packets you can buy but it wasn't clear which ones were included in this so I couldn't order everything. Still, it's coming on Thursday so I'm delighted. Hang on to what is positive!
:-)

Check on local Facebook pages and try any volunteer organisations in your area for help. Even if they can’t help you themselves they may be able to direct you. Many local small shops are also doing a delivery service so it’s worth checking them as well. Also your local council should have details on their website of who can help. HTH miro

Thank you so much everyone for your helpful suggestions. I have contacted all the local volunteer organisations but they just seem interested in helping the people who want to volunteer at the moment(!) So still waiting to hear back from any of them. I find it really hard to be in the situation of needing to ask for help - just wish I could get a supermarket delivery!!! Had to, reluctantly, give in this afternoon and make my way to my local small Sainsbury where I was able to get some milk, bread and fruit. Found it a pretty scary experience tho due to the aggressive security guard manning the door system and the fact that people were not complying with the 2 metre distance rule either in the store or in the street. After 2 weeks plus of iso and feeling secure of being virus free I shall now worry again for the next week or so. On the positive side....living in an inner city area, (Leeds), with normally a large student population there is no shortage of the take-away type of home deliveries....trouble is it is all such unhealthy stuff!7

Hi Miro
You need to ring Voluntary Action Leeds on 0113 378 1877. They are working in conjunction with Leeds City Council and will help anyone who is self isolating and has no-one else to turn to.
Stay safe and well.4 -

Hello I am new to posting so please forgive me if this isn't the best place to ask my question. Does anyone know what age T***o class as elderly for their priority hour to shop. I am 66 and my husband is 90. I obviously don't want him to come with me and it is impossible to get a delivery slot in the near future. Thank you.4

I wondered how Mr S knows we are well into our 70s then (over the fence 2m apart) neighbour told me the information comes from the Nectar card. My neighbour hasn't seen anyone for 3 weeks so I have set up a coffee morning with her once a day with me on the stepladder and with her at her patio table so I can see over the fence and we can talk face to face but 2m apart. All that clutter used to be money5
