If you are still struggling to get online deliveries, are worried about going to supermarkets (have you tried the tip about checking the quiet/busy times of your supermarket by searching for it on maps.google.co.uk?), and haven't got anyone who can help by doing the shopping for you, please consider looking up the Covid-19 Mutual Aid groups, find your local group and ask for some help with shopping. https://covidmutualaid.org
I'll second this - our local group is very helpful. Also try looking on your local council website for support.

Ah, I have just seen you mention "click and collect", does this mean you prepay and then simply collect from a special part of the store?
For Click and Collect, you order the goods online and they pick and pack the items for you. At my local Sainsburys you collect them from a van in the car park so don't have to go into the store. At my store, you show your paperwork through the window and the staff load the bags into your boot for you.
Asda do a similar service but at my store they leave your shopping in a locker in the car park.
Locally, Sainsburys have quite a few slots over the next few days, and Asda have quite a few slots for the first week of May.
You should investigate as if your local stores have slots, it will allow you to get what you need without going into the shop.

At my Asda you park in the click and collect area, advise them of arrival via App, open boot and wait.
Staff then bring out the groceries and load up your boot for you.

Is it is just me or is it getting even harder to get on the Tesco website at midnight. Couldn't even get on it last night. What time do others join the 'queue'? Thanks

Sainsbury's - only arranging deliveries to those on the Government-supplied list!!!
I'm in my mid-70s, live on my own, and set up an account before they generally stopped accepting new customers for that.  I've now tried to find out what I could order to find that they don't know I'm vulnerable and therefore I can't place an order for home delivery.
So I tried phoning to say I am in the vulnerable category but was told they have been instructed by the Government that they can only deliver to those on the Government list.  (I don't believe that but, if it is true, they should say so on the website.)
I was told I could use Click & Collect (and I know there were just two morning slots available locally up to and including 1 May) or I could contact the Government (not given any advice on how to do that).
I thought Sainsbury's were trying to do their best.  Is this their best?

Have you tried Asda or Tesco? I have got slots every week during this crisis with no problems and I am not on any vunerable lists.

Thanks.  The link does not support the decision made by the call handler that she could not help, that Sainsbury's would not deliver to me and I would have to use Click & Collect or somehow prove to the Government that I should be on their list.

I wanted to use some of my £85-worth of Nectar points (I know there could be better ways but spending in Sainsbury's is simple and I do want food).
Yesterday, when I looked at what was available there were some delivery slots available this evening (but no others), it was only when I proceeded to log in this morning to place an order that I found I was being told the computer said no.
This will only increase my loyalty to Lidl (not that they deliver but that they don't have the long queues I see outside Sainsbury's).

To add:  when trying to place my order, the message received includes, "We know there’s still work to do, and we’ve recognised the need for the government to help us prioritise the most vulnerable. That’s why going forward, they will identify customers who they consider the most vulnerable, and we’ll give those people priority access to home delivery slots." (my emphasis).
That is not the same as the call handler saying the government had said they could only deliver to those on the extremely vulnerable list!

ETA:  If anyone from Sainsbury's wants to contact me, feel free.  (No, I'm not expecting that: you are far too busy.)
I tried contacting them again and this time the call handler eventually understood that "priority" was not the same word as "only" and would pass on my suggestion to the website people that they are clear that they are not delivering to anyone not on the Government-provided list if that is really what they mean.  Perhaps she will, perhaps she won't.  Any way, I'll remember.

I am vulnerable but not on the govt. list  (although more vulnerable than the elderly, or those with heart or lung problems). I couldn't get delivery or collection slots, even when staying up until midnight. Tesco let me join their list for priority slots last week but still nothing available until I checked today and found some for this Tuesday.
