My Uncle is shielding. He has access to priority slots with Tesco although there have been ordinary slots available some of the time.

His household shopping order includes items for Nan (92, non Internet user and reliant on Aunt for care and practical tasks) plus a neighbour who is single and practically blind.

And do you know if Tesco are charging for delivery for these priority slots for the extremely vulnerable?

I happened to check the Tesco website a few days ago as I noticed they had some delivery slots but found that they did not have a particularly good variety of items.  I suppose this is down to which branch is local to you.  My nearest Tesco is rather small - used to be a Safeways.

They are indeed. You can choose a time between 10am and 6pm or 2pm to 10pm. They let you know on the day  approximately when they expect to deliver.

Not had a problem with out of stock items, so far everything I've ordered has been delivered, or a reasonable substitution. Unlike Asda...

Their letter tells me I can book a recurring weekly slot
Now, back to GaleSF63's post above.  Could the same apply to Waitrose and is this the reason why the neighbour is getting weekly deliveries?

In this case it's 2 different supermarkets. It is her daughter who organises it and I think she is doing as much as she can for her mother because she's feeling rather helpless having to keep her distance. Maybe making sure her mother is better stocked up than normal.

There must be a lot of sons and daughters worrying because of their limited ability to help their elderly parents.

    I don't know myself.

Not every Tesco fulfills orders. Sometimes a bigger store fulfills for the whole town and surrounding villages even when smaller Tescos are closer.
So it maybe that your nearest store isn't actually a fulfillment store for online shopping.
A safeway size shop isn't likely to be used IMO.

Then the reason why the Tesco website that appears on my screen has such a restricted choice will have to remain one of life's mysteries.  :)

I’m beginning to think that firms are using our present difficulties to cut back on customer.
over the past month I’ve ordered three items online:
Herbs fron Dobies, one plant was dead, another with that small of a root you’d be forgiven for thinking that it was torn from the mother plant and stuck into a potting compost for a 5 or 6 days and then sent off to the customer.
When I contacted customer I got a reply along the lines: due to present conditions we apologise we can’t answer individual queries!
The same with a phone I ordered.  Deliver due 10 to  14 days I contacted them after 21 days. Yes you guessed we sorry for the delay but due to the present...
Ordered two tubs of  Growmore after two weeks it still hadn’t arrived (it’s almost three now!).  When contacted I received the same line: we are sorry but due.....
Any of you guys thinking firms are using the current situation to cut way back on customer
