Am I right in thinking there's no way of opening any kind of Vernon account unless you live in the correct postcode?
You can still open a fixed rate bond with them but I don't think it's worth it personally
Minimum deposit of £5k, so not worth it!
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

they have a 35-Day Notice account currently paying 4.10% that is open to anyone 18+ in the UK with no postcode restrictions - the minimum balance is £500 though.

I didn't spot that! Presumably its worth opening that to get one's foot in the door, open the Regular Saver then give my 35 days notice?  Is there anything wrong with that?

    Vernon

It would seem the 'existing member' requirement for the Vernon requires you to have been a member since before 1st May 2024. I have just opened the 35 day account to become a member, and have tried to apply for the Regular Saver, and one of the requirements is for the above date to have had membership since
Might be worth me keeping £500 in the notice account to keep my foot in the door

    Progressive
I received a call from Progressive about an hour after my last post. The person I spoke to admitted:
    1. They had no idea why I'd been sent an online message when there was no way I could access it
    2. They're overwhelmed with applications for the RS
    3. They are having lots of IT issues
    4. The only option was to reapply, which I did while they were on the phone. It failed at the first page.
It's been referred to IT to resolve, but there was "quite a backlog" of IT issues.
Typical for small local low tech BS opening their doors to a wider consumer market.  At least you are in their system, so if they pull the product any time soon you are still likely to have your account opened.
They have launched more online accounts

    PROGRESSIVE BS

Quite possible this has been flagged and I didn’t see it - Progressive BS Online Rainy Day Regular Saver seems to be NLA

So it is - thanks for flagging. They have a shocking web interface for mobiles. Looks like you have to scroll sideways on the accounts area to see each type they offer, but there is no indication of this. Not even dots to show the number left to scroll etc. Screenshot attached, looked like only the online instant access saver account was available. Immediately clear on a computer that there are lots available once I opened that link.

Not a top rate but may be worth noting:
H&R BS Regular Saver 30 Day Notice at 5.25% has now gone NLA, replaced by Issue 2 at 5.1%.

Issue 1 seems to have remained at 5.25% for now (haven't got the account so don't know if they will be reducing the rate on it at present)

Unlike Issue 1, the new issue 2 has a minimum balance of £1 and no minimum pay in.

The maximum monthly payment for Issue 2 is £1000, as against £500 for Issue 1.

I have Issue 1 and have not been notified of a reduction in the interest rate so far.
