al rayan — Online banking is being switched off

I don't have any issues with the mobile app either, but I only hold fixed term accounts with them (and haven't opened any new ones recently). Some of the problems people are having are genuine ones. Functionality in the decommissioned online banking simply do not work in the app. I don't think it's generational as several of the people complaining here also extol the virtues of app based banking elsewhere.Lokolo_2 said:I must be the only person who likes the new setup, I find the app works really well after the initial problems logging into it. Some of it is nicer than other major banks apps like swiping to confirm payments! This seems to be a generational problem as only those without smartphones are now struggling, get with the times!

I'm with you though not sure generation thing as late 40's but still have no problems with new app or for that matter having any of the issue cynergy customers are moaning about due to new securing measures!! Think people need to realise in today's world security is more important than ever so if wanting to use online methods to bank then need to invest in equipment that will be secure if not wanting to then stick with local high street bank you can walk into!!!Lokolo_2 said:I must be the only person who likes the new setup, I find the app works really well after the initial problems logging into it. I have no problem with it moving to mobile phone app only. But to lose functionalities such as standing order is a mass pain in the ***1

Yeah can understand that as more of an issue with actual account rather than IT problems which most folk seem to complain about, I only have the 1.6% saver as other current accounts offer better features for me so could be time for a change and get the switching perks for some people if it's the actual account features that's the issue.Nuggy96 said:I have no problem with it moving to mobile phone app only. That's me. I can easily be put into the "oldies" category but I don't have any issue whatsoever with the need for a smartphone. I have a massive issue with the withdrawal of functionality. Right now, I have been on the Al Rayan muzzak for 28 minutes as I need to cancel a few of my SOs, and the only way of doing this now is to call them. Goodness knows how long before they even answer the phone. What a waste of everyone's time!Nuggy96 said:I have no problem with it moving to mobile phone app only. It's not that this functionality doesn't exist in the app. It does. They just haven't enabled it for the Everyday Saver.
It should have taken me a couple of minutes to do this.

EDIT: the entire call took 1 hour 14 minutes in the end. Just to cancel 4 SOs. Madness.0 -
Wait, so on other accounts you can set up a standing order, they just disabled it on the Everyday Saver?
That is ridiculous, why have the function but not allow it. 1 -
They have [to have] the functionality on their current account. They've now just fallen in line with other savings providers for their instant access savings account and withdrawn the SO functionality for savings. Bizarrely, they still allow you to set up multiple future-dated payments to the same recipient on the Everyday Saver. I am also told they would still set up new SOs for you on the Everyday Saver over the phone but I have no intention to test this, not just because of the painfully long waiting times but also because you are unable to see any SOs (new or old) against your Everyday Saver. It's all a bit surreal.Nuggy96 said:Wait, so on other accounts you can set up a standing order, they just disabled it on the Everyday Saver?

is there some particular reason why nearly all savings accounts don't let you set up standing orders? some strange EU regulation perhaps?0

Why on earth would you even think this has anything to do with the EU? Stop reading the Daily Fail and other EU hating rags.d63 said:is there some particular reason why nearly all savings accounts don't let you set up standing orders? some strange EU regulation perhaps?2 -
That is true, I guess it's not an issue I've come across as I don't use standing orders on the savings account. I do feel sorry for the chap who had to spend 1h14min on the phone and agree they should enable the standing order facility on the app. Maybe they will do if enough people send in written complaints to them regarding it!masonic said:
