Morning.  Well yesterday I had an odd day.  Up early, phoned GP’s they said a Doctor would call later which he did.  Sadly my hearing kept going again.  Doctor was upset they had not sent COVID test. He said he’d send antibiotics to chemist then suddenly decided to send me to see a doctor at a special clinic set up not too far from us for people with some COVID symptoms.  Actually by the time we were there I thought I was better. I think the thought I might pick up COVID here put me on alert.  You were only allowed in at your appointment time and everyone was in PPE.    Anyway the young doctor was very good and really listened and repeated what I didn’t hear.  Where I thought I was better he said fluid on my lungs and if I had the pain again to call an ambulance. This doctor was certain not COVID but chest infection. He also checked that the antibiotics were at chemist.      Doctor told me I had to rest.  Did sleep last night but unfortunately woke up early with the noise from my chest. It’s purring away.  Sadly I can hear it.   It’s not going anywhere fast but antibiotics should kick in in a few days.  So just hoping DH does not get this.
Hope everyone is ok with this bad weather.  Friend near Manchester was fine but her son’s garden was flooded.  Looks as though snow is coming. Our way too.
Indie hope work is not too tiring today.
    Take care all.

    Good Morning :)
leanfun, that sounds awful, I hope your breathing clears up quickly.
Dad is waiting to hear back from the GP, he doesn't get an appointment these days without the GP phoning him at a random time after an online form is filled in.
I am getting left at home this morning while he goes for an eye test as his vision is all blurred at the edges, he is starting to think that all that money spent on eye surgery was wasted :(
it was another cold start today at -5 degrees but it was a dry frost so no slippy footpaths except where the run-off from blocked drains had left it wet.
    Take Care.

    Morning all,

Cold start here but not in your league Duncan! Not tried going out yet .

That sounds really bad leanfun. Hope you feel better soon. I think there will be a lot of illnesses like that spreading about when all this starts unlocking. Did your DH get his vaccine ok? My parents were fine after theirs but aunt has been a bit ill.

Hope you are feeling ok now indie.

Did a lot of walking the last few days . I am determined to get rid of the last of my Xmas weight gain, only half a pound to go. Going to try for another half stone after that. DH not been eating as much as usual yet so it has been easier!
GS started nursery the other day and apart from crying when he was left he got on fine.

    Good Morning :)
Warmer today at -4 degrees, starting to think that winter may be upon us.
Dad was in Kirkcaldy High Street for his eye test yesterday and what a change that he saw, so many shops shut and boarded with 'To Let' signs.
The eye test was a great laugh with it being done 2 metres apart, she was very thorough and could not find a reason for Dad's fuzzy vision, she did suggest using one of those misting sprays to see if that helped with 'dry eye'.
Sheils - It's not so much the calories that you burn rather, it's the calories that you input, if you don't eat it then you don't need to exercise to get rid of it. Dad knows all the answers but he is still way too fat. ;)
    Take Care.

I prefer it the way I do it, eat reasonably and do lots of exercise! ;)

    Good Morning :)
Dreadful when the Scottish government can't even get the delivery of vaccine appointments in the right envelope never mind actually deliver the injections. Tell a person in their seventies to look out for the blue envelope with your appointment then actually deliver it in a white envelope, result - confusion in a group of people that could do without this kind of stress right now.

Sheils - when dad had his big loss a few years ago he did both, he changed the way and what he was eating and greatly increased his output in the form of walking more, I like to take some of the credit as that was about when I came on the scene and took him from 4 miles a day up to an average of over 10/day resulting in a gradual loss of 30kg over the course of 10 months.
Going out to buy MY food today and it will be interesting to see if Dad can still carry the 12.5kg bag or if he will need to go back with the car to fetch it.
    Take Care.

Afternoon.  Thankfully I’m on the mend.   Chest is still making noises but not all the time and I’ve managed to eat a little.   DH is ok and no signs he has caught this.  He had his vaccine last Wednesday and apart from a bit of ache in his arm on the day no other problems.   Hope your Aunt is better Sheils.
Last Thursday my 93 year old friend died.  She was being looked after by her daughter and daughter’s family and carers since last September.  She was well looked after and very happy to be there.  My friend was a twin and her sister is a nun and is in a nursing home run by the nuns.  A couple of years ago my friend went there for six weeks but didn’t settle there and it was two hours each way drive from family.  The nun used to be based near here and used to come and stay with my friend once a week.
It’s husband’s birthday.  So like last year, when we both had head colds no celebrations with family.
DD sent a cake but one of my friend’s grandchildren collected more than half of it so sharing the calories around.  Duncan hope your Dad took care with that heavy load.
Anyway it’s Burn’s Night so hope those with connections have a good one.   You included FireFly.
Indie hope you are not too tired out after work.
    Take care.

PS.   Forgot I received a Stork cook book on Saturday.   It’s a big book and looks interesting.

Leanfun - I hope that you did not give your hubby your lurgy in a kiss for his birthday

    Good Morning :)
Dad managed to struggle home with my food yesterday and it was only a 10kg bag, he could not find my usual brand, I just hope that I like the stuff he got.
Icy underfoot this morning but it is milder if that makes sense.
We are going to Lidl to get food for Dad today, it wont be as heavy as my stuff but as he spent so much on mine yesterday I doubt if he has very much money left anyway, the last week of the month is always a bit tight for cash but these last couple of months have been really bad.
    Take Care.

    Just to add
We had a power cut last night just before 9pm, it was only out for about 5 minutes but that was enough to reset all the clocks in the house and for some reason it switched on the DVD player and that had to be unplugged this morning to get it to switch off.
No word yet as to what caused it all.

Morning.   No fear definitely no kisses for DH’s birthday.   Thankfully so far he’s ok.  Duncan hope you like the new food.   Pleased your power cut did not last too long.
    Take care.

Afternoon, I hope you all had a good weekend. I worked yesterday as well as the weekend. I think my tongue was moving before the brain was in gear to agree to Monday as well. lol, The admin at work asked if I would work today but I said "no". It was very busy and my bones are aching now and I am very stiff today so doubled my meds. A lot of residents have covid and also the staff is dropping like flies. The staff and residents all had their jabs the first week in January but it takes 3 weeks to start working so they must have had the virus waiting to come out. You now have to have a flow test every shift, that's the one with results in 20 mins and have a full test once a week. I can't have a test for 90 days as the results won't read true. I also can't have the jab for 28 days as I have had the virus. I am not working till Friday now so just relaxing today.
I am glad to hear your feeling better leanfun, it sounds as if the antibiotic is working. Just take it easy till your better. Happy belated birthday to your DH, great idea to share the cake and calories around, lol.
Duncan, I  hope you like your new food. I tried Charlie on a different food last month and he seems to like it. Which I am glad as I buy big sacks of it every few months and the newer one is nearly £14 cheaper than the old one. I hope you have no more power cuts, I hate it when it happens and you have to reset all the clocks and microwave.
I am off to make a coffee and play catch up with the comps. Hope you all have a good afternoon
    Take care
