Duncan think it might be a stub thing for cigarette ends. Friend of mine paid £1.50 and that’s what it was. To do with competition for an iPad. Think he said there was a post about it on MSE.Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Thanks sheils, I had seen the thread but not read it until after I had seen your message, unless I have won the ipad, I don't think that I will be picking up the packet.
(I don't think anyone has won an ipad if this is an example of how the comp was run)3 -
Sounds like company made a mess of things Duncan. Think postal prices just went up though so maybe that caused it.Leanfun, your fish sounds lovely. I have lots in freezer as it doesnt take up much room. (I only have a small freezer.)Everytime I see some fish at reduced price I get some. Must eat some soon. DH is only starting to feel better now so will be a day or two yet. He has lost about 6lbs which must bring him to the correct weight, maybe it should have been me who got ill!Bit upset about having even more restrictions , goodness knows when we can live again. The police here are fining people for going 10 miles for shopping etc so really feels bad. In first lockdown people still went 30 miles for their food as only a small Tesco here. They really need proper rules all over the UK as people really don't know exactly what they are allowed to do.Had an email about making an appointment to view new cars which really seems wrong though. Think Wales has closed down all showrooms to stop these things happening. Can't blame companies I suppose as they are all struggling. Not going to trade in a 2year old car with 20,000 miles on it anyway! So many emails trying to sell us holidays too when no-one knows when we will ever get one again!Hope you and your family are doing OK indie.Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Good Morning
The rain today is 2 degrees warmer than the sunshine of yesterday, it is still borderline freezing though and I can't persuade Dad to get all his waterproofs on to take me out.
He was at the nurse earlier about the injury to his finger and nothing definite was said about how to treat it other than keep hand elevated as much as possible and keep them as warm as possible as well.
The restrictions in Scotland still don't go far enough as far as we are concerned, it should be back to a full lockdown until the vaccinations are fully underway and then come back to what was announced yesterday. The shops need to stop couples shopping together again as they are taking up space that there is just not enough of.
Take Care.1 -
Morning cold and still raining here too Duncan. Hope your Dad’s injured finger heals soon. Think Sheils is right postage went up from the 1st Jan and that was probably posted way before Christmas. I think if they were sending an iPhone it would have to be signed for. We had a parcel come for DS yesterday and he said it should have come way before Christmas fortunately no extra to pay. Our way the post Is all up the creek due to staff illness. We did enjoy the fish Sheils, thank you. We have fish at least once a week, love it. Sounds as though your DH was really poorly great he’s a bit better. Yes, odd about car sales but they are looking for business. Holidays is a different matter who knows when we can go away again.
Today is the funeral of our friend who died by himself before Christmas. He had no family but was involved in a local football club and had an executor from there looking after his affairs. So people from the club are going. We can’t go and seems they are not streaming the service. Still will think of him.Duncan never understood couples going around together in supermarkets. I don’t drive so if I went with husband he would find certain things and I’d find main meals. We know a couple she’s very short and he’s very tall. They had a problem when it was only one person at a time. When she came back to car he had to go in and buy the things she couldn’t reach.
Indie hope things are improving for you all.
Take care all.3 -
Afternoon, thanks for the well wishes. We are improving slowly, but getting there. I finally stopped feeling nauseous. We seem to get a burst of energy then wilts. Our temps seem to be settling down although son's GF keeps hitting over 38 but hope that settles in the next couple of days. Only 4 days left to quarantine then we are allowed out if most symptoms have gone. I had a text from work telling me the local hospital is giving care workers the vaccine so will give them a ring next week.
Hope your dad's finger heals soon Duncan,i am sure once the weather changes your be on your walks again
leanfun, did your sister get her results or did she have to ring up for them
sheils i saw on the news Scotland had tightened the restrictions even more. Let's hope they work.
Thanks for the advice wingo, I don't sleep on my back which helps. Enjoy your time off
Take care and stay safe4 -
Had to laugh at the tall and short couple leanfun. DH quite a bit taller than me too so like having him with me in supermarket! There isnt a problem shopping in our local supermarkets. Not seen queues since first lockdown. Think so many people are getting online shops. I have looked and never seen any slots though. I feel I should leave them for the people who really need them anyway. Must admit we never shop on a Friday or Saturday when it can be busy. Lots of our neighbours go late or early as they are mostly over 70 and a bit worried about getting too near people.Glad you are doing ok indie. See they reckon having the virus is as good as getting a jab anyway, at least for 5mths. You must be annoyed you didnt get the jab a few weeks ago.Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Just wrote a post phone went. I saved post before answering phone now it’s gone. 2nd Try.
Phone was my sister she sent test off last Thursday. Phoned on Tuesday and they could not find it she’s tried phoning again but they can’t find her test say they are getting back to her. She thinks it’s lost. She is a lot better but still has pains in the chest and coughing and no energy.Indie so pleased the nausea has gone just do what you can do don’t push yourself. Hope the other two and you are better soon. Make sur you are 100% better for a while before you have the vaccine. It was GD’s ninth birthday today and they FaceTimed us this evening. Great to ‘see’ them. They look well and said they have no snow but there’s snow high up above Gare Loch. Unfortunately the presents I bought and had sent directly to her had not arrived yet. I think the delivery was Royal Mail and that is up the creek.4 -
Good Morning
Remember indie, the quarantine period is only for when you are infectious, not for how long it takes you to recover so you need to take things easy until you get fully fit again, the second wave can be worse than the first if you try to get back to 'normal' activities too soon.
Black ice forming here this morning just before the dawn so I will need to make sure that I don't pull dad over.
We are getting the boiler serviced today so I will need to be on my best behaviour at home as well. What a con that is, every year the plumber says how good condition it is in but still charges me £70+ for an hours work to do the service just so that we can keep the warranty up to date.
Take Care3 -
Morning all,
We haven’t got snow here but neighbouring towns have! I wanted snow this week for a video to send in to school for home learning.Hopefully we have some next week when I’m back at work with the kids. Take care in the black ice though everyone!
Indie, glad you’re feeling a bit better. Like Duncan said though, make sure you take time to recover. I went downhill again after 4 weeks and needed another couple of weeks. I still have times where I’ve got real bad fatigue and just going up stairs I’m breathless. It really does wipe you out for a while so take your time before returning to work.
Happy birthday to your GD Leanfun and hope she gets her presents soon. Our post comes about once a week now I think. Never anything exciting though!
Fingers crossed that you’ve won the iPad then Duncan, that will be worth paying £1.50 for!
Sheils, I kind of wish we had same restrictions as it is where you are. We see lots of people breaking the rules here and nothing is done. The supermarkets have started refusing people without masks but they need to crack down on groups of people out and about and travelling to places like Whitby/Scarborough instead of staying local.
My poor young neighbour psssed away a couple of days after Xmas and her dogs keep crying for her. I can hear her DH saying to them that she’s not here anymoreIt’s so sad. There’s so much heartbreak in the world right now we need some good news and lots of laughter in our lives!
On another note, I was thinking about a new hobby and really want to take up learning to knit/crochet (is that how you spell it) incase I ever have grandkids. Where is the best place, videos or books to start with? Any ideas appreciated!
Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!2
