Hello
Heatwave arrived overnight, temp was up to 8C at noon, that is a 15 degree rise from the other morning when it was -7C.
Now that the snow has gone we could see the daffs starting to push up through, we get a lovely show of them round here in the spring.
Dad goes for his quarterly B12 injection this afternoon so I am hoping that he will have a bit more energy when I take him a walk.

Afternoon, glad the temps have gone up your way Duncan. Just a few degrees makes all the difference. I noticed all our daffs are coming up in the garden, love it when I first see that as it means spring is on the way.
2 of us had calls from the NHS this morning, just checking we were ok and asking about our symptoms. I think they were checking we were indoors and not at work. They said as long as we didn't have a temp or fever after the 17th we could go out ect. They then thanked us for self-isolating. None of us are too bad at the moment, our temps are fluctuating and sons GF has last her sense of smell, it was her tastes as well but she got that back. My son and I just have no energy. I had a wash and brushed my hair and it felt like I had lifted heavy weights for a couple of hours, as muscle ache is terrible. I also just feel nauseous all the time, but that is all part of the virus. hopefully, that will pass.
Hope you all have a good afternoon

Afternoon all,Warmer here too Duncan but wet and windy. Did manage a little walk, on my own though as DH not feeling that well. No Covid symptoms but keeping an eye on him! Virus sounds nasty indie. My aunt and parents have got their appointments for their vaccines for a week tomorrow which is good, especially as it is in town and my parents even have the same time slot!I hear our local A&E is swamped with Covid patients and ICU is full so a shock for us here. We lived in a little bubble before really. lLooks like cases falling a bit though.Hope your DH hears about his vaccine soon leanfun and he doesnt have too far to travel for it.Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Evening. Indie sounds bad enough for you. Do try to have enough fluids. Hope all of you are feeling better soon.Sheils pleased to hear your parents and aunt have appointments for next week and more importantly they are not too far away. DH has not heard anything yet. DD1 was in touch yesterday to say a health centre two miles from us (not ours) had a three hour queue yesterday out in the cold. I think the NHS computer system kept crashing. Today the government announced seven centres. Ours is the Nightingale hospital. Miles away. ( it just came up nightmare instead of Nightingale. So accurate.). DD2 was in touch saying tell Dad if he has a letter to go there not to go and wait for local GP’s. I was so uptight about it this morning. They want over 80’s and vulnerable people to travel at least 45 minutes in the cold and on public transport. Then they are surprised that people are not turning up. Do they want to make even more work for NHS. Ho and surprise surprise not much take up of night appointments. Transport for London announced 57 COVID deaths today. A lot of them were bus drivers. We have not been out since before Christmas and I think it will be another couple of weeks before we do. We are so thankful for the delivery people.Bring on the spring is what I say.Duncan hope your Dad is full of energy for your walks now. Pleased to hear your heatwave came eventually. It’s warmer here today.Take care all.3

Good Morning
Back to sub zero, so much for the heatwave
Indie - I had a wash and brushed my hair and it felt like I had lifted heavy weights for a couple of hours, as muscle ache is terrible. I also just feel nauseous all the time, but that is all part of the virus. - apart from the hair brushing, that could mean Dad has had the virus for the last 2 years as he always feels that way. But really, you should probably just give in to it and let it run it's course, plenty of fresh air would help.
We got a card from the postie yesterday saying there is a charge to pay on an item, we are not expecting anything so Dad is wondering where he will get the £1.50 to pay the charge and find out what it is.
He also had to submit a photo to the GP practice of his sore finger, I wonder how you take a photo of pain.

Morning everyone
I’m on standby this week with work so doing some short courses and comping inbetween!
Indie, sorry to hear you all have covid. It really sucks. A good tip that a dr gave my bro which helped me was to keep blowing your nose as the bacteria lives in crevices in nose and throat and also to not lay on your back as much to help your lungs work better. Stay strong!
Hope DH is feeling better too Sheils. It’s a scary world right now.
Duncan, just be careful it isn’t one of those scam things asking for money. Hopefully it’s a win for you!
Leanfun, fingers crossed you hear for the vaccine soon. My mum hasn’t heard yet either but she is also scared with all the conspiracy theories around it!
Our School are also campaigning to get special needs school staff vaccinated. It’s scary being at work at the minute as the kids cannot tell you if they feel poorly through no fault of their own. We had more than half of the kids in school last week and sent a couple home poorly. We can’t do covid tests on the kids either as it’s too invasive and they wouldn’t tolerate it. Let’s hope a few good wins cheer us all up! Stay safe everyone.Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!2 -
Morning. Good to hear from you Wingo some good tips for Indie. Great you are having a week at home good luck with the comping. Yes, many people are concerned about the vaccine and take notice of the conspiracy theories. I think you need to be sure you don’t have any infections when you have any vaccine.Ho Duncan life is hard when you have chronic illness and feel ill all the time but somehow you manage to live with it. Hope your post with excess payment is something good.Heatwave didn’t last long. It’s the same here feels very cold again.Sheils hope husband is feeling better. Have you been doing a few comps?
Take care all.3 -
Hi all,Been a nice day here although a cold start. DH starting to feel a bit better and temperature gone but expect it will take a day or two. Don't know what it has been. I have been feeling fine so been running after him.Yes agree key workers should be vaccinated soon wingo.Couldnt care about conspiracy theories just want our lives to start again. They can inject DH and me with anything they like if that can happen! Not really done that many comps leanfun. Think your DH should do what he is happiest with when it comes to the vaccine. Not sure why old people are asked to go a distance when most are really worried about travelling etc. Ours might be slower but at least local appointments.Hope you are feeling better indie. At least you have your family with you.Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Good Morning
This cold weather is doing nothing for Dad's arthritis or his mood, rain due this afternoon and that will probably turn straight to ice on the ground
We walked along to the sorting office yesterday only to find they have changed the opening hours and had closed at 10am so the charged item will have to wait, still can't think who would send something without putting a stamp on it.
Hope things are going OK indie, I know that Dad jokes about the virus but it can hit some people really hard so look after yourself. Reading the blurb on our health centre's website, if will be into Feb before they start with the vaccine and as Dad is in level 4, it will be long enough before he get's a letter.
Going to Lidl this morning if anyone needs anything.
Take Care3 -
Morning. Duncan I’ve heard from friends that lots of sorting offices have changed their times and they like you have gone to find them closed. Intriguing to see what’s waiting for you. Thanks for the offer of shopping. Shame you are not nearer I’d offer you some of my scones.
We have a fish delivery today so it’s Scottish salmon for tea and I’m going to make fish pies to go in the freezer. Also some other fish coming as well as a treat for me of crab meat for sandwiches. They had 20% off everything this week so ordered more than usual. Fine dining ingredients at home. Doesn’t matter how you cook it the fish tastes yummy. Finding this fishmonger had started home deliveries when the top restaurants and hotels had to close was one of the good things about lockdown.Wingo the guardian had an article yesterday about special needs teachers and the vaccine.https://www.theguardian.com/education/2021/jan/12/we-feel-forgotten-special-needs-teachers-on-helping-englands-vulnerable-children
Since New Year we have only heard of one young person who has had the virus locally. Yesterday my sister still had not heard the results of her test and was going to phone them.
Thinking of you Indie and Mummy2threeboys.Take care all.4
