Hi all,Sorry about your friend leanfun.Happy Birthday to your DH. Glad you are on the mend.DD was supposed to visit today but she has what she thinks is a cold but isnt taking any chances with her dad especially as he has just been so ill. She is getting a test tomorrow anyway. Was a shame though as it was a seriously wet day and nothing to do apart from the ironing! It is horrid being short of cash Duncan. Luckily we are OK but having to help DS3 as he has no income as his gf expected to keep him on her furrlough pay and no jobs. He nearly got one with Amazon but they won't allow him to share lifts and he cant drive. Nothing is fair at the moment.Sounds like you have done a bit much indie. Care homes seem to be such a nightmare everywhere.Love to all. sheils xMar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Good Morning
No ice *yeah*
It looks like I will be getting banished outdoors today while Dad paints again.
We work on quite a strict monthly budget here so while we are short of cash, there are always back-up options even though Dad hates to use them and that is part of the problem from the last couple of months, he went so deep into the CC that we will have to watch the pennies until it is paid off but at least both freezers are full so it is just the fresh stuff that we need to buy for a while.
A family Zoom meeting has been setup for Friday, I hate them as I never get to say anything and all those different voices in the room but no new hands to pet me

Morning, raining here at the moment. but not heavy. Shame your DD couldn't come round sheils but best to be careful at the moment. Your right about nothing being fair at the moment.
Glad you have no ice Duncan, I am sure your dad's painting won't take him long then you can go back in. You don't want to have paint over your coat or on your paws.
I have a few things to pick up at shops today but thats all I have planned so far. Hope your feeling better leanfun
Have a good day
Stay safe

Hi all,
Been a lovely day here! Had a nice long walk in the morning, dragging DH with me as it is a walk with steep hills. It is a circular walk so kept saying he could turn back but he persevered.
Had some good news today, DS3 has managed to get some work although just part time. Still needs help with his rent this month though. He is hoping to get full time by March and not need any more money so fingers crossed. It is cooking fancy food but wages pretty low as plenty of high quality chefs unemployed at moment.

Hi everyone, it’s been a few weeks since I last came on here but just been reading back. I’ve been catching up with tv/netflix series and sign language course.
Thanks for info on knitting book Duncan, definitely will look for that one
sheils, I’ve also put lots of weight on last couple months. I was gonna do fat free feb but like my choc too much so will do a fitness Feb instead! Great news your DS has got work.
leanfun, hope you’re feeling lots better now and good luck for the jab soon x
We are also doing the lateral testing in school too indie. Ours start next week. DH works in mental health and has covid on his ward. He does the lateral testing daily but they aren’t as effective as the other tests. His colleagues have had negative lateral tests and tested positive getting one from hospital. Still, it might give you a warning sign so better to be safe.
Well we’ve been listened to now and we are getting jab this weekend for our school staff. I’m relieved about it considering we are still in school with no social distancing and the chance of getting spit or drooled on or even bitten. It’s no fault of the kids but it’s still worrying! DH has had the Pfizer and he’s been fine. SIL has had 2nd jab now and been fine also. My mum is scared about getting it so needs reassurance.
I also got the stork book todayYay, a win!
Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!2 -
Good Morning from a wet Fife, a good excuse for Dad to not take me out, we have missed one walk already this morning and he is showing no signs of shifting himself soon. One consolation is that he has run out of bread so he is faced with the choice of doing without or walking down to the shop.
Wingo - it seems that a large number of folk have been put off getting the vaccine for one reason or another, I would normally say 'all the more for better folk' in these cases but not this time, I would hate to see someone suffer in the long term because they were a little scared in the short term/
We seem to have missed out on the Stork book, probably a good thing as it would just encourage more baking.

Just afternoon here and was sunny for a short while. Thanks all for kind wishes. I am a lot better but chest is still not completely clear and no energy yet but improving.
Sheils sounds as though your DH was really poorly too. Brilliant news your DS has some work even if it is part time and low paid. It’s all so hard at present.Wingo great your school staff are being given the vaccine as it should be. Great your DH has had it too. As long as your Mum has no health issues or had reactions to anything before she should be fine with vaccine. I’d say you have to be well and no infection when you have it and you should be ok. Most people just seem to have ache in the arm for a few hours.Indie hope you are having a good rest.Wingo well done on Stork book. I’ve only glanced at mine but there will be something’s I’ll try out.
Duncan hope you get out again and rain stops.

Evening, great news about you and other staff getting your jabs wingo, that is how it should be as well. My friend had the jab and was unwell for a few days, she has had to take the full test as she was having just the quick test when at work but she had aches and fever so best to be safe than sorry. The jab affects people differently, but if we are to get back to normal (whatever that is now) we all need to be protected.
Good news about your DS getting work sheils, hopefully, he will get more hours offered as time goes on.
Duncan, I am sure your go for your walks when the rain eases, as you say your dad needs bread.
Glad you are feeling better leanfun, Although we are all back at work our energy levels have hit a low I am sure if we had some sunshine it would boost them, lol. It was 12 degrees out today so in doubles figures. But no sunshine just rain.
I hope you all have a good evening
Take care3 -
Morning all,
Supposed to be dry today, rained all day yesterday so we drove to a big Tesco and got a big shop. Took 2 lists and went in separately. It is difficult packing and paying for a big shop on your own, must be difficult for the elderly.
Only about 5 degrees here indie!
Had bad news from DD though as she has tested positive for Covid. Although she has had the first Pfizer jab (month ago) she is still feeling pretty bad and having bad headaches. A few other nurses seem to be off now too. When they have to do restraining etc their masks get ripped off so obviously more at risk. We will see how quickly she recovers anyway. Disappointed the vaccine doesn’t seem to have helped so far.
Hope everyone well. XMar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Afternoon. Sheils so sorry to hear your DD has tested positive. It’s very difficult to know exactly when or where one picks up the virus but your DD sure has a difficult work situation. Just hope she starts to improve and the vaccine means it’s not worse. People definitely need the second injection.Take care all.4
