@Jas3232 if the cog/toggle icon is missing you can either refresh the page and it should reappear or click/tap where it's supposed to be and you should still get the edit/delete options come up.
Yes that is a workaround  but it's never been fixed. The cog becomes  invisible after the first edit of a post and has been like that since the  forum opened.
Why is this bug taking so long to fix?

Have the settings as favourites, click new posts and it's the favourites that show, move on to the next page and it brings up new posts for the whole forum and not just the topics I want to see.

Go back to the start, repeat the process and it's the same problem again.

Are the IT people messing around with the settings again as this is tedious on my phone.

Welcome to the new MSE Forum!

After months of planning and hard graft for our teams – plus feedback from many of you – the day has finally arrived. I’d like to officially welcome you all to our new Forum!

I’m incredibly excited about this and hope you will join us in celebrating the launch of the new Forum, which I think looks fantastic. It will bring a load of new features for everyone, while hopefully retaining the MSE feel I know you all love and treasure.

Over the coming weeks we’ll be smoothing out any snagging issues and tweaking around the edges, but we need your help. If you spot anything that looks broken or not quite right, do let us know on the “New Forum Snagging” thread. Please read the first post before writing anything – it’ll explain how the thread works and make sure we don’t see lots of the same snags being flagged up to the team.

We have done this replatform to futureproof your Forum, so here’s to the next 15 years of the UK’s biggest MoneySaving community.

    Marcus, Editor-in-Chief

7 months later and the forum still doesn't work properly on iPad, it displays like a giant mobile phone using Safari on iPad.

Surprisingly @MSE_Tine made reference to being aware of the problem on 7th Feb...

UPDATE: THINGS WE ARE AWARE OF (TO HELP YOU SEE AT A GLANCE WHAT YOU DON'T NEED TO TELL US ABOUT)

I don't know why MSE didn't just go with some forum software that's been proven time and time again.
This one is absolute garbage.  It's hard to post with quotes on a mobile.

Just write it off as a mistake, delete threads over 24 months old and migrate the rest to Invision Board.
  • I have managed to avoid the new forum until this week.  All I can say is WHAT A MESS.  Why change something that works?

What a mess.  I have bookmarked the 'view all boards' button so at least I sort of get a recognisable format.

However, that format is TOO SMALL and cluttered and it seems to be because someone felt the need to categorise and sub categorise already categorised sections.

It's akin to my local supermarket who think that all the white wine from X grape should be together and next to all the red wine with Y grape.  Why change the 'category' that a thread is in for the sake of making more.  I wouldn't mind, but the threads are not even in any order.  Can I suggest you at least put them alphabetically now you've shoved them all over the place.....

I've gone through so many of these forum 'new shiny layouts' and I think this will be my last.

Oh dear why was this change made? why are things over to the right as if we are reading from the right.

Total nonsense please reverse. No design principles followed.
  • My 2p worth - please put the categories on the left hand side; with it on the right it's very distracting.

Also, is anyone else having issues picking threads when reading on an iPad when it's in portrait mode? I can choose no problem when it's in landscape mode.

Did anyone test this on different devices before releasing it?  I’m on an iPad and the forum posts take up less than half the screen width.

I'm on a Mac and the posts take up a neat column down the middle of the screen with half the screen wasted.  I've only logged in as I received notification there were posts on this forum.  I just stopped using MSE many months ago because of the whole mess the layout had become.  A very easy and friendly style became a "new and improved" version that had very little to commend it.
