It no longer exists, what you see is what you get I'm afraid, there are no other options 🙁

Where is the button for the Classic (green) UI ?
A couple of years ago, hundreds of us pointed out the ease of navigation from the many existing, helpful design details.
MSE listened and we kept one of the most user-friendly Forums around. :)
By contrast, the "new" look seems designed for mobile users, i.e. impaired navigation and less visible content.
Why invent a worse wheel ?
Hopefully, there is no need to re-cap all the UI differences - as someone will point out the link to the Classic (green) interface that worked so well.
    Thanks very much :)
    Oh Dear.
As elsewhere, Web Designers know better than Users !
In their mind "cleaner looks" (i.e. lazy minimalism) is more important than usability and functionality :/

Welcome to the 'better' forum - have you only just noticed the change? ;)
There was a thread of 'issues' but when it got to over 1K posts, they closed it - as you say, the 'experts' know better!

@Tarian it's definitely not designed for mobile users, as many of us pointed out when it was first swapped over, with numerous screen shots.

The functions that have been added, only work in landscape, which most people don't use or hold their phone that way.

    Hi,
What functions have been added ?
All I see is less "stuff" all round#.
[#Typical of other website "upgrades" that either disguise navigation or make it harder to distinguish.
Fewer design details like borders around links (e.g. the Menu). Loss of shading to indicate heirarchy.]

The "old" (green) MSE Forum was great in that so much Info and Navigation could be seen in one view - and it was easy to separate given the different colours for panels and functions.

As for "not designed for mobile Users".
If not , then why is the site now "Responsive" ? i.e. When reducing window size, content shuffles around and navigation disappears.
Surely that shouldn't happen for Desktop/Laptop view  ?

The option of picking what page to read of a thread (as long as you flip the phone to landscape), being able to block people (which doesn't work on a mobile), being able to tag and quote people (both do work in portrait view), there's other things but I can't remember what they are and also gave up listing all the issues as it wasn't getting me anywhere, then the virus came and no further updates / changes have been made.

Couldn't answer anything about desktop / laptop view as I don't use it, nor do I access this site or any others via a PC.

They've made it rubbish for everyone rather than optimising it for one group. We now all get an equally dreadful performance.

TBH it's a pita to try & search to see if anyone else has asked this,
I've only just noticed you cannot now see who thanked you, WHY ??

You can see, on a laptop you hover over the thanks button and on an iPad you tap the thanks button.

The thanks button has vanished overnight on mobile access.

    Wonder what else has.
