Not only is the service second to none, but i have sent my laptop back 4 times, each time its been picked up on say the monday, and if i have not recieved it by the friday, i have the laptop back fully working by the monday. I have no complaints to make about it. Yes you have to pay about an extra £300 for the cover on a £1000 laptop, but dont you think its worth it?
Everyone who slates cover has not really used it. If you had bothered to phone coverplan up yourself you would have noticed that you dont take the products back to the store as there is no guarantee that they leave and when they return. You should mail them off yourself. Dont forget that you only have to pay for the phone call you dont have to pay for any postage.
Recenly i have started working for dixons, which i know you are going to call me bias but i have had the same feeling for some time before i started to work for the company.
i used to work for the link (also part of dsg) and sold the coverplan on mobiles, faxes etc and would NEVER buy it now purely because of the hassle people had who bought it from me had clamining on it, since they came to the shop as the first port of call when something went wrong
although this was approx 6 years ago since i worked there i cant see much difference in what i was selling and the patter i was giving the customers and what i get now
imo sorry but i will take the chance, in fact just yestersday i bought a laptop in currys and declined the salesman trying to sell me the cover, yes there may be benefits to buying it but i dont really need them0 -
Hello
My parents dispite getting on a bit and not being at all technically minded, still choose to do their own thing when buying electrical goods.
6 years ago they got a 28" Sony TV for about £800 from Currys. They paid about £280 for the extended warranty and since have topped that up with another £70.
TV broke down, can't be fixed and so my parents have just been sent £899.99 worth of vouchers for a new set.
Does anyone think that £899.99 will buy a TV equivalent to the Sony KV 28fs20u of 6 years ago? Or should I try to get them more vouchers?
I've looked on the Currys website and there are some pretty good sets there for that price (although personally I cannot watch smudgy sports on an LCD TV) - I just hate Currys so much that I don't want them to steal even a penny's worth from my parents.
Cheers

900 for a 28" tv is a good payout, heres a tip look on the website for the tv you are intrested in and take a printout, go to the store and enquire about the tv and then say its cheaper on the website and they will pricematch, then use your vouchers and you should have quite a bit left over to buy something else :j0

Coverplan is crap, everyone in the stores knows it, thats why it was changed to whateverhappens about 2 yrs ago - much better service, much better prices. A lot can be swapped in store, if not call up and your sorted within 3 weeks. If something goes wrong, go to branch, they call up and fix it asap (special team).
As for commission - we poor sods get £1 for each we sell (and only if the store hits target)

My parents decided to go and do their own thing as usual.
They've bought a TV for approx £1100 - so they're adding about £200 of their own money. They haven't asked to price match, no free quality scarts, they've even spent £150 on a new stand. Arrrrgh!
I pointed out to my mum that the 40" version of the set they've bought is actually cheaper than the 32" they're getting.
I give up!0 -
I bought a TV from my brothers brother in law. The deal was that if I took out the warranty he would knock alot of the TV price (for obvious reasons). The TV should have cost £2000, warranty (4 years on a 42" Plasma) £500, and TV stand £500.
For all this I only paid £2200 so I'm happy (the joys of having family).
My cover runs out on Mon 25 June 07 (3 DAYS AWAY). I rang Mastercare about extending the warranty just to clarify a couple of things (not giving my name etc.) It turns out that if my TV breaks etc and is deemed non repairable I will get a direct replacement. So, with only 3 days left, an accident happended and the hoover handle went through the screen. Phoned them and they are sending someone out in the next 48 hours.
After reading through all the bits on the contract, I "think" I am confident that I will get a new TV from this.
So on that note, check this post regularly and I will keep you updated!
