Furious
Housing association will not remove me from the tenancy2 -
Phone Shelter - there may be limits on what the HA can do without a court process unless everyone on the tenancy agrees.
Were you on a periodic tenancy? If so you can give notice without the other person having to agree. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.3 -
Don't panic Ms Mainwaring.......I'm sure you can sort this out, do you have any house ins? Sometimes there is a legal helpdesk you can call. xx (and then cancel it, you don't live there lol......)2

Got some numbers to call this afternoon
Could have done without it though3 -
You could try ringing Citizens Advice (England) Mel.03444 111 444. 9-5 Mon-Fri.If you call from a mobile they ask you to enter a local landline number. That can be any in your area. It's just to identify your area so they can send your call to a local adviser if one is available.Or you can talk online.I don't suppose you had a chance to grab any paperwork with leaving in a hurry. But as you've spoken to the HA you need to ask them to update the tenancy. I don't know if it's fixed period or rolling , that's something you need to ask.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

You've got all you need then. Is it fixed or rolling? Worth reading all the terms and conditions and any small print. If it is joint tenancy you will be liable for 50% of the rent until you get your name off the tenancy. What did the HA say when you tried to talk to them? I'd contact Citizens advice or another help agency if you haven't already. You do need to cut any financial ties with the ex. No idea if he's ok at paying his share of bills but at the moment if he stops paying his share it could impact your credit history. If you can get off the Tenancy it's up to him if he sinks or swims.Check that agreement carefully, there may be a break clause although that's more common with private landlords.Have you asked the HA to amend and update the tenancy? What did they say when you contacted them to let them know you'd left?If you haven't already searched their website there may be some useful info there.Sory for all the questions but it's important to get the issue resolved asap.pollyx..It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Well hopefully that will make things easier from the point of sorting the tenancy.Have you had a chance to think of any bills that may either be in joint names or just yours that involve the property?Your friend is right. You are out of that nightmare and free. That's precious . Your friend sounds very supportive. Count your blessings Mel and keep going forward.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
