  • Still waiting for my Virgin Atlantic refund via ebookers... but had a small result, as emailed ebookers yesterday for an update (hadn't heard from them for 2 months, despite them saying they'd send an update after 1 month). I was polite but firm, completely understanding that they are really the middle man. To their credit, they replied within 24 hours and gave me a £100 coupon to use against a booking made by 31 October 2021, by way of apologising for the inconvenience.
E bookers is now owned by Expedia - so probably they will have the capital behind them to refund you themselves.
Good on them for the gift card.

Received second Virgin Atlantic refund of this year.
Got March refund in June, and received the October trip we should be on now, a few days ago.
Would be flying to Vegas tomorrow on final part of our LA, San Fran, Vegas trip. :'(
We were in Vegas this time last year, so its a full year without a trip to Vegas or any holiday.
Bloody hell, you don’t have miss em when you can’t have em.

    same as u brats!
I went to Corfu (Sidari) instead for the week..
Came back with 60 bites (mozzy's), and £50 worth of mozzy stuff...
    Not the best of holidays!!
No refund from Virgin yet, although my flight was booked with Netflights, so plan is to ask virgin on the 19th if they have refunded netflights, and if so, launch a section 75 against netflights for withholding.....
    Either way, miss Vegas!! :(
Were on VA Prem rtn to Vegas for June next year (airmiles), already booked C Palace and MGM, toying with the idea of where to stay for the 1st 4 nights (12 night trip)....  Granted its a long time away....
got some good offers, inc the corner suite at the aria, and media suite in the M Bay....
But for all the years going, have wanted to stay in the Excalibur, so might have to flip a coin for where to stay ! :D

We are devastated about not going this year. We only had one trip booked, but it was the best use of our comps and rewards ever! It was six weeks of awesome bargains.
With this Covid situation, I'm quite concerned about another trip even if an airbridge happens this year. I believe an airbridge between London and NY is being discussed for the near future.
I will wait until next year before I book another trip. Missing the place and our friends who live there very much, but health and safety must come first. Especially considering we are both over 60 now.
Hoping for spring 2021 fingers crossed.

I think even the airbridge would expect 5 days quarantine (from what I have read) Pebbles :/

Finally got an email from Virgin yesterday saying they have processed the refund for our flights to Cuba next week. It hasn’t landed yet tho

We were due to fly to Vegas with Virgin on 7th November, tried to cancel it several times via their cancellation form on their website but it still kept showing as live, last Thursday we got an e-mail from them apologising for the long wait and refunding our deposit (arrived back on credit card on Saturday) we had only paid the deposit and expected to lose that with trying to cancel but very please to get it back.
So all 4 of this years holidays gone and refunds for all except a deposit with Jet2 which we expected to lose.
Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy
  • Sounds like Virgin got their backsides in gear as I received refunds for July NYC flights, last week. So all fully refunded now for every trip this year.
As much as I like getting trips booked up, I'm just not even going to look at booking anything at the moment, just too much up in the air (or not!).

Secretmachines...I agree, as hard as it may be, we have put holiday planning to bed until this thing blows over. As I’m immune compromised there isn’t the slightest chance of me taking a risk...haven't been anywhere outside of my home town of Keswick for 6 months.
Wish I could say the same for all the tourists in the town. ;)
We have 2 weeks off booked for September, so would love to think a Vegas trip might be on the cards. But not even looking flights and hotels...if it happens, it happens. If not, roll on 2022.

We go every September, but hadn't yet booked flights when Covid erupted. We were in Singapore and cruised from there late Jan/early Feb, so we were all too aware of what was happening, although we didn't quite realise how bad it might get. We discovered we had been in port in Singapore with a ship with a covid issue, and the Chinese passengers on our ship weren't allowed off at ports and were taken straight back to the airport rather than being allowed entry into Singapore from the ship. So, our next trip was likely to be a cruise in May, so we held off. We also held back on our Vegas flights. Glad we did, because we've not had the worry of cancellations, or perhaps even worse being forced to go abroad or lose the money.

So, we've had a few days Inverness and Chester this year for our summer holidays. I've also been startled by the stories of shootings etc in Vegas and people not feeling safe. Very sad times, and I hope this improves along with everything else. Weird thing is, I actually don't know if we'll go next year if things are back to normal. Need to wait and see. I'd love a week in the sun somewhere, but not prepared to take the risk for now.
