Oh well done you for not catching the dreaded lurgie, and just catching a normal bog standard lurgie instead.Very wise of you. At least the kids can relax a bit now. They must have been terrified.Take it easy and just go with the flow for a few days. Get over whatever it is and enjoy your walks.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

foxgloves said:All visiting kids can let me know in advance of 3 foods they'd be massively upset to find on their plate & I totally promise not to serve them, but if there are more than 3, tough! And I am very good at spotting all variations on the 'pushing it around the plate to make it look a bit like I'm eating it' methodology, lol, also the sneaky dropping of vegetables onto the floor. What a pesky auntie I am! (But I make up for it in home baked biscuits, cakes, Auntie Foxgloves' meatballs, home made fudge & puds!)

Alas another rubbishy night of sleep means that I've never gotten going again today. It took three cups of tea before I could even bother myself to put the rubbish out and feed the cats this morning. I'm still not very well but I am better than I was yesterday - I'm pleased it's the weekend so it means I don't have to stress about school work on top of everything else.
So the sum total of my efforts today are a bit of tidying, putting rubbish and recycling out, cleaning the bathroom, cleaning litter trays, box set, crochet, making a chicken curry and the daily walk with dd. Very relieved that we weren't too far from home when the rain started and that we were almost finished our walk.
I can't get away with this again for another day - work tomorrow.

That sounds like quite a lot of activity for a poorly person, CCL.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
2) To read 100 books (36/100) 3) The Shrinking of Foxgloves 6.5kg/30kg

You need the rest to get better. It is not lazy, it is recuperation.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Would you 'normally' take tomorrow off work, being poorly? If so, then you shouldn't go in tomorrow. Just sayin'...

Hello!
I have worked. Oh how I have worked - since half past seven and I'm just stopping now (apart from my meeting at 1) but I have been a machine. I don't think I would have had the day off anyway apple - it's just a bit of a cold. I have a headache this morning and my back is sore too (probably from too much sitting on my backside) but I wouldn't have rung into work. And besides which, the deputy head said I would still need to ring in sick if I was going sick? They are excellent in most ways but just occasionally they get it quite wrong. Like ringing in sick when work has all gone to h e l l at the moment. I'm really pleased that I've made some progress today because I already feel way less stressed than I was.
I feel like I need to nap but I don't want to nap because I think that I'll feel worse afterwards - both physically and mentally. I did sleep a bit better last night but also think I need to get the healthy food intake up again. It's slipped while I've been poorly and I don't think that helps any either. Too much toast and chocolate and not enough vitamins and minerals.
So, rest of the day plans are as follows.
Feed the kids lunch and see if my load of washing is dry outside, change the beds and start washing some of the bedding. Get the kids to tidy and hoover upstairs, and then make them both work. DD no problem, but ds still very unmotivated. I hated his Van Gogh project, but I thought he'd be more entertained than he was by the Edinburgh Zoo stuff. This fortnight's project is all about WW2, so both dd and me should be able to help him with this, and he's busy reading Goodnight Mr Tom so fingers crossed I can engage him somehow. No point in trying before he's been fed though. Each week I say I won't let him leave it until Friday and then every Friday I have a stressed ds at 8am desperately trying to do a week of work in 3 hours. I'm determined he will learn for himself sooner or later though. Feels like it's been a long time of him leaving everything until the last possible second though. Comp is going to be such a shock for him.
Then I need to walk. I have a serious amount of space in the freezer at the moment and I'm desperate to fill it with child friendly beige food so I might venture into town. We'll see. Other than that I'm going to have a good go at getting back on with giving my body the nutrients it definitely needs.
Sun is out for the moment, and that makes me very happy indeed. It's a whole different world when it's warm and sunny.

It is grey and cold here today ccl, so you enjoy your sunshine. It is so cold I came home and made the most enormous vat of vegetable soup. I may even have to pop the heating on for an hour - yeah, that chilly today! Thank goodness for kettles and hot cups of tea.I know what you mean about kid food, my freezer is 2/3rds bare, so I used my
2shop cards( I get from doing surveys ) in Icyland and bought burgers and vegetable fingers and sausage rolls. Somehow it feels less like carp when it does not actually cost any of 'my' money to buy.
