Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 4 - The Aftermath

CCL - You have done exactly the right thing in booking a test. One of the sneakiest ways this virus spreads is that people sometimes have such minor symptoms, they don't know they have it, & many people are symptom-free so unwittingly potentially spreading it. My sister's friend went for a Covid test recently, as she is a key worker (adult residential care). She tested positive. She has been & still is perfectly well with absolutely no symptoms whatsoever, yet she has it! Your minor symptoms are quite likely a cold, but as a key worker it's well worth finding out.
Good luck, & look after yourself whatever the results.

First of CCL sorry to hear that you`re self isolating. and hope you get your test soon.
I also hope you get your walk restored soon as it is a good mood booster.
I`m in my 6th week of self isolation with at least another 2 months t o go but it looks likely that this will continue.
I`m careless enough not to have a spleen which makes life tricky atm!
Thank you so much for all the info re blankets which I`m certainly going to look into, I`m currently finishing a baby shawl but would like to diversify and I think i`m a better crochetter than knitter.
Jan xx
P.S. So cheered me seeing your post on crochet- have copied and pasted it for future reference : )

Well it's done and now the waiting begins... it was exactly like it looked on the telly. Drive through, all windows closed and barcodes scanned through the glass etc. I only had the window down while the army man actually did the test. He was nice - tried to put me at ease while I was in full PPE getting a large cotton bud shoved up my nose then down my throat (different ends). Now I just have to wait for my results to be texted through to me. I know that lots of people have had lots of problems but I honestly found it very easy. I got an appointment within 48 hours of requesting one, within a 30 minute drive from home. Appointment time was 1030-11am. I arrived at 1029 and was leaving again by 1045. I don't know why, but I feel remarkably calm. Other people are far more worried than I am. I don't know if it's because I'm such an anxious human being normally that this hasn't been much of a step up for me, or if it's my anti anxiety meds doing their thing, or if it's just that I don't feel very unwell at all. Actually just feel like a bit of a fraud if I'm honest but I know better safe than sorry and all that.
I feel a bit worse than I did yesterday but still not bad enough to have had a day off work if life was operating normally. Still no temperature but today I feel sleepy and fuzzy headed and I can't be bothered getting anything much done work wise. Ah well. I feel like I'm working for the sake of saying I'm getting something done. Nobody seems to know how or when we'll be going back, and I suspect there are going to be bigger things to deal with than getting kids through exams. Think there will be lots of trauma to clear up and feelings to talk about and that's before we start looking at kids whose needs weren't being met while we were off, and the gap that will exist between those that worked and those that didn't.
So I don't have much to report. Apart from my test today I've done a load of washing and line dried it, made roast chicken dinner and rice pudding, hoovered through and remembered to put the bins out. I've also had a Zoom meeting with my head of department so a bit of work, but I really need to do another hour or two to assuage my guilt. I also desperately want to get one of my crochet projects finished - it's annoying me having so many of them on the go at the moment.

Great that it's all done and dusted Cat. How long before you get the results?
I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

It said it should be somewhere between 2-5 days. So not too long. I'm already fed up of not being able to go out for my daily walk though. Not giving up

Fingers crossed, CCL
That walk is becoming an important part of who you are, isn't it? It's good exercise & quite meditative which is why it is great for helping to sort out our heads too. Hope you can soon get out there again.
