Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 4 - The Aftermath

Morning
I had a day off yesterday. Just a bit of a break from everything... One of my oldest friends seems to have fallen out with me, because she's struggling at the moment and I have voiced my concerns to her about this. She's taken it as criticism and has stopped replying to any of my messages, which is a bit upsetting. However, I'm not going to be sorry for caring about her and being worried. When we speak she just sounds like she's lost hope, and that concerns me. But I have to remember that you can only help people that realise they need help so I have stepped back and left her a message that says I'm here if and when she changes her mind. I needed just a bit of time to process this and get my head round it. It's hard enough being on my own at the moment without having to process that as well.
Anyway, all that I got done yesterday was a bit of washing, clearing rubbish and washing up, and then a long day of crochet and watching a box set that I found on iPlayer (the Missing) just broken up with a late afternoon walk on my own as the kids didn't want to go now that the weather is a bit grey out there.
Today is Monday (so the tv tells me), which means work. So I'm going to spend the morning doing my school stuff, then the afternoon doing the kids school stuff, and hopefully get a walk in somewhere as well. Just remembered that I tackled Mr S yesterday so there's plenty of food in - I might get ds on the case with making lunch because he has been more than a little lazy and I seem to be letting him get away with it.
Have a good day everyone!

Appreciate it's hard cat but think your approach is right, you can only help people who are open to it. I'm sure she'll message you in time. You seem to have had a good day yesterday. Hope today is good too.10

CCL, it is tough watching other people go through stuff. One of my best friends is having the most awful time of it with her husband, he literally won't let them out of the house and has always been a bit paranoid re her communicating with us so now we don't hear from her for days at a time and we can't say or do anything till she realises his behaviour is wrong.
Hope you have a good day today XXXNevertheless she persisted.11 -
Agree, CCL, there is nothing you can do unless your friend realises there is an issue & approaches you for support. Absolutely no point dwelling on it atm.

Morning
Well, I woke up yesterday with a bit of a cough... which deteriorated over the day. I am not poorly, but I definitely have a cough. So I'm now self isolating, and luckily enough because I'm a key worker I have managed to book myself in for a test tomorrow at a site less than 10 miles from home. The guilt in me is screaming that I need to let people who need them have the tests, but I also know that a lot of people get this disease with very few symptoms and then spread it round. I definitely don't feel ill and I don't have a temperature - I just feel as though I have a bit of a cold starting. However, my head of department's uncle died yesterday so I'm very mindful that if I do have the virus I need to keep it to myself and I'm going to get the test done. Then if it's negative I don't need to keep self isolating and I can go into work as planned next week.
Jan, with regards to my crochet projects, I'm a big fan of making blankets. I don't design anything myself - I just follow patterns that other people do, and I also test patterns for a friend of mine. I use Rav£lry a lot to get patterns and look about a lot for CALs (crochet alongs). My favourite designer is Helen Shrimpton, but I also like the Scheepjes and Stylecraft CALs each year, and I love Polly Plum, Moogly and Lucy at Attic 24 and her colourful designs. Lots of people recommend Bella Coco for beginners but I haven't done much of her stuff. At the moment I'm in the middle of testing two small blanket patterns for my friend (Gaye Brown) and I've got 2 Helen Shrimpton blankets on the go - a Mandala Madness and a Framed. Sometimes I do hats and scarves as gifts for people but I love wrapping myself up in a handmade blanket on a cold day. Like today. It's all grey and my living room is very cold and I'm sitting here with my Ubuntu blanket keeping me warm.
So it looks as though my daily walk is on hold right now (which I'm more upset about than I thought), but I have my sister collecting my shopping for me this afternoon and dropping it off. Other than that I've already had two Zoom meetings for school this morning and have been reasonably productive - just not on the stuff I need to be doing for school. I keep putting off something that I really need to get done so I suppose I should put that on the annoying jobs list too and just do it. This afternoon I'll think about looking online for a workout I can do in the house or garden while the kids catch up on their school work.
Have a good day and stay safe everyone...
