I've never made bread and butter pudding with cream - now I'm wondering whether I've been missing out!
I can't see the point in the Y6s going back either. I don't know whether you follow MrP anywhere - he may be more primary - but he was saying is rounders an Olympic sport because we're going to have fantastic rounders players if we're just sending Y6 in for the last half term!

Ahem, just in case you have not scoffed the lot yet....."Make your bread and butter pudding according to the recipe and freeze. It can be frozen baked or unbaked - this is entirely up to you. If you want to freeze the whole thing, make sure the dish you cook it in is oven and freezer safe"Ta Dah! So the influence is all good, joy, comfort and less waste all round.

Morning!
I have been a busy bunny the past couple of days. Meeting after meeting, and loads of school work, and the stress at the thought of having to go back to school. DS is in Year 6 and they are very quick off the mark at his school because I got a message early doors asking if I intended sending him into school on June 1st if they are open? I've said no. I'm not convinced yet and I want to wait a couple of weeks and see what the consequences of VE day and this new lifting of lockdown brings. I will not be using my kids like they used the canaries in mines. I get it, that some kids will be falling way behind and some kids are in awful situations at home but that doesn't apply to me and mine. The only reason I would want him back is to see his friends at school but that won't happen properly anyway - he may not even be in their little bubble. I will let those that think this is all a joke take the risks and remember how lucky I am that I have a choice in this matter.
Unfortunately there is no bread and butter pudding left. Freezing would have been a fantastic idea except for the fact that my freezer is full of beige food as eaten by my kids. And I do hate food waste.
I have 2 meetings today. One school one and one exam one, so another busy day for me. First one kicks off in 10 minutes so I will be disappearing then.
There's not much else to report as life is pretty samey one day to the next. I'm doing ok but have a niggling headache - the weather has turned awfully and I've lost a bit of motivation. I need to clean and tidy my house a bit and get the kids on and working at some point today. Busy busy...

Totally agree with you about keeping ds at home.

I don't think that the people making these decisions have any children or if they have their nannies do ALL the child care. No one in their right minds would think that a 5 year old can be kept 2 metres apart from their friends. When a teacher on here figures that his/her classroom can only take 5 children physical distancing when it takes 25 normally, how do they think they are going to get 15 in a classroom? Is the reason they called it social distancing rather than physical distancing that they weren't sure they knew how to spell physical?12

I’m really struggling with this too. I have to go back next week to prepare the building for returning children. Some of my children will have to go back to school in order for me to work. Yesterday I was trying to work out how wide the potential field of infection would extend from our current home bubble and it did worry me ☹️.
Hope your meetings go well CCL.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

There was a spike in A&E attendance over the VE day weekend in Manchester where we used to live. It seems lots of people went out on the lash and fights and stabbings went up and overwhelmed the emergency dept.Very wise to wait and see how that will play out. I love that the guy who bragged about shaking hands in a Covid ward with Covid patients and who subsequently got Covid and nearly died, is now telling us to use our common sense. This morning I got a call from the dentist to rearrange appointments, and an email from the school asking how many people would be interested in sending their kids back to school. If they lift the travel restrictions, then I suspect summer might just start early!! A lot of people around here have parents with caravans up the coast.I have been thinking how nice it must be to live by the sea at this time. Not risking it though.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

It is nice to live near the sea but we haven’t gone on the beaches since Lockdown - someone locally got fined for walking their dog on the beach.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

I live near the sea too - not quite walking distance (about 5 miles) but there's no way I'm risking it. I think everyone else will be risking it now that we're 'allowed to' and I'm all for the rules of Scotland at the minute (being closer to Scotland than I am to London and living in the council area that has the second highest infection rate outside of London). I will continue my local walking and keeping me and the kids in our three person bubble for as long as possible. I'm in work on Friday this week, but lucky in the respect of my working at 'big school'. DD is in Year 10 so no doubt I'll be getting asked about her going into school soon as well. I think I'll say no there as well. I'm privileged enough to know lots of specialist teachers who will tutor if need be once all this has calmed down a bit.
I am skint - I should be earning exam marking money, and a lot of it, over the next couple of weeks. But I'm getting none of it. The exam board have no obligation to pay us anything, as we're seasonal workers contracted on an ad hoc basis - so we fall through the cracks of the furlough/self employed schemes.
Anyway, I have another meeting now so best get on.
