Hey
Hope everyone is doing ok... I was so tired last night that I decided to just have an early night. Still felt a bit flat this morning, but busy day on. Put a load of washing on, did a bit of housework then headed out for the day to do my monthly catch up with my bestest crochet friend. Turns out she is worried about me - reckons I've lost a bit of my sparkle. I explained I'm just tired and run down at the moment, and can't seem to catch a break but she's quite insistent that I try and get back to the docs as soon as I can. I know that there's no shame in being medicated to improve my mental health and I'm quite happy to ask for help if others think that I need it - the problem is that I just cannot get an appointment for love nor money. I didn't think I was particularly low - but I also know that sometimes you don't realise how low you've been until you're out of the rut. I've had a troublesome month though in terms of finances and emotions between my ex and the cats and it's still not quite over - the mortgage isn't sorted, the cats' insurance haven't paid out yet etc. I have promised I'll continue to try and get an appointment or ask to speak to someone over the phone if that isn't doable. I might just need a little bit of help to pick me up again in the short term.
There is some really good news to report though. I got an email yesterday with my summer exam contracts in it, and I'm very lucky in that I've been promoted to Assistant Principal - there are four of us on my paper and we're second only to the head honcho running the exam. I'm very honoured to have been offered this job and looking forward to the extra responsibility that it brings along with it. I'm also lucky that my mam is happy to have the kids for 5 days so I can go to London and do the actual job, and that the Head is happy for me to have time off and go and do the work. I suppose it brings a lot of benefits to the school too though - chemistry teachers are in very short supply, and chemistry teachers that are very senior examiners are pretty rare indeed - there are very few of us still teaching as well as examining. Time to start believing in myself a little more I think.
Anyway, it's been a few days since I picked up a crochet hook so that's what I'm going to do for the rest of the evening...
P.S. I did a charity shop trawl today and found absolutely nothing except a couple of books for 49p, which I may not get round to reading any time soon... but nothing else worth looking at really. I haven't hit f0xh0les levels of luck yet.
Not giving up
