Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 4 - The Aftermath
Comments
-
Morning
Thank you all for your kind words to me and to the kitten as well.
His official colour is cream HSL - it's gorgeous isn't it? And he does look like your girl BeanieHe's running about at the moment chasing a bottle top. His favourite toys are bottle tops and sweet wrappers so in spite of being a luxury cat he has the same tastes in life as me and the kids,
My hormonal issues are on my list of things to talk about to my doctor, but as they've been ongoing for a long time, and I have a bit of a phobia of discussing things like this with my doctor because my weight gets the blame for a lot of my issues, then I've decided to wait until the current health emergency settles itself down a bit. I've continued to feel better apart from the hormonal headache I always have for a few days - I can manage that if the feelings of despair and hopelessness are gone though. I'm in my early 40s so I have been thinking I'm perimenopausal for a while. I don't know if I've always had these symptoms but they were masked among my mental state when I was being a mother of young kids, working full time and doing it all on my own. Anyway. I'm aware of it now so will get something done when I can. I agree foxgloves, when I'm eating and sleeping well the hormonal stuff is always more manageable - that had fallen by the wayside with the massive changes at work but I'm dealing with it now.
I have other news as well. I am beyond shocked to tell you that I got that promotion with the exam work. I literally cannot believe it as I've never been first choice for anything in life, and it was such a longshot for me to apply for the role in the first place. I only did because it is my dream job, and I can do it alongside the teaching as well. I honestly thought that I'd messed up the interview questions, but apparently my enthusiasm, hard work and love of chemistry shone through loud and clear. They're still waiting for one reference, which is why it's taken them a while to get back to me - but I've chased it up (my Head insists that he wasn't asked for a reference before Friday) and that's gone. Now all I need is for the world to return to some form of normality so that I can actually get on and do the job,I'm not going to lie, I know I can do the job but I'm shocked that I finally did ok in an interview.
Anyway - I'm noticing that sitting at my laptop is making my headache a bit worse so I'm signing off now and going to make myself a cuppa and have a little lie down. I promise I will get caught up on diaries and challenges very soon. It's payday on Wednesday so I will have some renewed budgeting determination.
Not giving up

Time to take back control

That’s brilliant news, I’m sooooo chuffed for you.Have you tried red clover / soy iso for the hormones. I took them as a stop gap before HRT and they really helped. I still take them now even though I’m on a small dose of HRT.
I understand the weight issue, I remember going to the doctors 30 plus years ago about a really bad 2 week headache to be told it was because I was overweight and I was obv depressed because of it ! I went to see a different doctor 2 days later and I was rushed to hospital for X-rays / scans, I’d bruised my brain - my 5 yr old brother had Pulled a car door shut on my head a couple of weeks earlier. If it happened now I’d complain loudly but I was Young and scared of doctor’s opinions.Sealed pot challenge 822

Great news re getting your dream job, thats fab news. Hope you are planning a wee celebration?
I get your concern about GPs putting everything down to weight. I put off going to see my GP with painful knees as I thought they'd just tell me to lose weight. In the end I was in so much pain I had to go and ended up with 2 knee replacements due to severe arthritis. My weight was never mentioned once and I was taken very seriously all through the process. Wish now I'd gone years earlier.10 -
Oh well done!!! So happy for you, and glad that you did decide to apply, because you were the best candidate for the job. Hope it brings in more money for you and you can start to worry less about things from now on. Do we have to call you a new title now? Examiner Cat Lady sounds a bit forensic / physiological.Crazy Cat Examiner is even worse! Going off to the kitchen now to smear Bisc0ff spread all over the place and do a happy dance for you. I might bake a celebratory chocolate cake in your honour. Yay!
