Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 4 - The Aftermath

As a long time GP avoider (because every time I've seen one I've felt fobbed off), I understand your reluctance. I've read and read and read up on perimenopause stuff and can tick all the boxes, I've read up on supplements and HRT and decided to go down the supplements route for now. It's taken a good couple of years to get a balance that works for me but I still have the occasional "when will I feel like me again" days.Puberty in reverse isn't fun. Mind you it wasn't fun the other way either. Luckily DH is very on board and tells me to pipe down/go sit it out or gives me a big hug when I'm having a diva moment.I'm not saying dont speak to your GP, just tune into your body and take it from there. I use the "flo" app to keep a check on things/symptoms and can now see clear patterns of anxiety/palpitations/moods swings/lows and libido fluctuations depending on where I am in my cycle. Worth a go.7

Vit B6 was the only thing that helped me. I didn't just take it for the 10 days or so before my period either I took it every day for years and years. The doctor was aware I was in effect overdosing but didn't stop me and I came to no harm. The good side effect was it put me off chocolate.

Evening all
I am completely overwhelmed by how many of you are supporting me and cheering me on. And I've thanked you by disappearing for a few days... It hasn't been intentional. The kitten, cute as he is, broke my laptop...on Sunday morning while I was last on here. He came zooming past me and knocked a plate off the arm of the sofa, which I went in a reflex action to try and catch, and the laptop fell off my knee. Thought I'd just broken the charger so put the laptop away and ordered a new one. It arrived yesterday - and I couldn't get it plugged in. Turns out the old charger had snapped off inside the laptop. Took it into work with me this morning and asked one of the lovely IT lads to have a look for me. He told me that it wasn't fixable, or rather that the cost of fixing it would mean it would be better to buy a new one altogether. 1. I am skint and paying a load of debt back. 2. I can't use a work laptop for exam stuff (confidentiality issues) and 3. My first meeting for my new role is this Saturday coming on Z00m. Oh, and 4. Since 'working from home' became a thing the price of laptops has seriously gone up. The same laptop I bought last July for £280 is now £450. Exact same. Nice IT lad spoke some foreign computer language to me and was saying something about putting the RAM and hard drive from the old machine into a cheaper new machine or something... upshot is that I have ordered (on the credit card) a £370 laptop to be delivered tomorrow to school because I can't see another way round it short term. I will just have to wait for my first new pay or Christmas to batter the cc back down again. The IT lad has taken my old laptop and is going to try a last ditch attempt to cheap repair the old one, just in case, but I need to be prepared for a 14 month old laptop to be be finished. I can't take the risk of having nothing on Saturday so I'll have the new one ready, and if there's no joy by Friday I'll unpack the new one and set it up ready for Saturday. I'm so blimming annoyed about it but what's done is done.
I dug out this very old laptop I'm currently using, but it's too slow to manage doing Z00m and work so it's not suitable for the new work. Someone said something about my being able to claim for the cost of a laptop to work, but I'd have no idea whether that's a thing, or how to do it so I'll need to research.
Thanks also for the advice about the doctors. Most of my doctors are quite lovely women - it's me as usual. I worry that I'm wasting their time with pointless whingeing, or that they'll blame my weight. When I saw one just before Christmas last year when I had the kidney infection I remember crying because I was so relieved that she didn't blame my weight for causing the infection. She was just lovely. I'll put it on the list of things to do.
Nothing much else to report. Work still busy and demotivating... I'm plodding on as always. On a very slow computer. Not giving up

CCL - I second that. I had a problem caused by a cat - a big grey tabby charmer - which led to the drowning of my mobile phone. I was on the landline when cat came in & cavorted all over the brand new sofa with muddy paws. I managed to push him off with a cushion, but he knocked my mobile phone off..... & I watched it slide in a perfect arc off the sofa..... & into my just poured mug of coffee. Drying-out attempts failed. I phoned our home insurance provider (feeling like a bit of a numpty with this cat/cushion/sofa saga) & no problem, it was covered as part of normal home insurance & I got a replacement sent out.
So defo worth a try.
