Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 4 - The Aftermath

Evening all from my new computer
I did think about claiming on my house insurance but I wasn't sure if it was worth it in terms of paying the excess and the impact it's bound to have on future premiums etc. I haven't looked into it but I don't know whether it's even possible now I've paid out for another one. My old laptop is with my friend's husband who reckons I have nothing to lose by letting him have a go at fixing it - probably just my sanity if he actually manages to fix it for a small amount of money. Ah well.
Not much to report here - busy day at work and lots on. I am beyond fed up of hearing how Covid is spread indoors but we're all still in school all day every day. And fighting some of the people I work with who keep sending kids back to my classroom when I send them to first aid because of a persistent cough. Our own first aider tried to tell me today that it's not Covid if there's no temperature - I was very quick to go and moan to the Head and Deputy Head about it. A lot of the time it feels risky enough to go into work, without having to teach a kid that coughs non stop for an hour and isn't sent home. It's actually illegal here now to meet anyone indoors that you don't live with. Except the 1100 people you work with obviouslyI am tired of the restrictions but I would be less fed up if there was any sense in the explanation of work being safe but visiting my own family not being safe. If the government just admitted that they are using us as glorified babysitters I would at least respect their honesty... as it is I think I've actually just stopped listening to anything. The rules change so often and make no sense that I find myself not caring whether I'm right or not.

Have a look at claiming then at least you`ll have the information on the future impact etc. It was a lot of money to fork out. Also at the current time, it is an essential piece of kit.8

Bums about the laptop. Still think it is brilliant you got the job.
I feel the same as you about school. Boris said he would keep the schools open so here we are. It is so sucky. Just feels surreal and ridiculous.
Make sure you are kind yourself with all the extra work XXXX
Nevertheless she persisted.10 -
Morning
I've survived another week at school, but it is so hard. It's awful having to prepare and deliver your own lessons, plus prepare and deliver online learning, plus prepare paper learning for those that aren't online. And nobody is mentioning the appallingly low uptake of home learning from the kids that are self isolating. It feels like a massive amount of effort for not much benefit. I find myself very tired when I get home. The school are cancelling most meetings, book marking (in favour of whole class verbal feedback etc) and very keen that they don't increase the workload, but then we have to do every lesson three times over and the form tutors have been given the job of delivering the social/financial/sex ed bits of learning that we normally get people in to deliver. I don't mind doing it but it is more work and more prep. Ah well. I was very pleased to get home last night and put my feet up - I've had a niggling headache for days now so I did a couple of hours of crochet and then went to bed by 10. Managed to get a decent night of sleep but the head is still niggling so I've given in and taken the migraine meds and am hoping that they kick in before I attend my important Z00m meeting this morning for the official beginning of the new second job. I'm quite excited.
After that I need to do some grocery shopping. I was going to book a click and collect but last week's was a bit of a disaster because there was more not available than was available and I ended up in the shop anyway topping up. Might as well just go in and take the risk. It surely can't be more risky than going to work at the moment. I was also going to pop to bestie's house for a socially distanced chat at the door but the weather definitely isn't looking good for that at the moment so looks like another weekend in the house with my feet up trying to relax.
Anyway - I don't have much else to report - work really is taking over at the moment, and the very tight lockdown rules here in the north east mean that I'm hunkered down. Even though it's raining I think I will walk later because I usually find that good for clearing my head.
Have a good day everyone. Not giving up

Good luck with the new job stuff. Have a walk later, it may help with the head, if nothing else.It is soaking wet here and the kids will still want to go scrumping so I am going to pretend we are somewhere tropical in rainy season and we have to harvest the coconuts (sometimes it is just whatever gets you through the day).4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Late to saying congratulations! Utterly wonderful news re your promotion. So well deserved. We are all finding a different path through this blasted coronavirus. The things that I find help are ones that apparently boost the immune system: leeks, onions, garlic, spinach, brassicas, coloured root veg in particular. I find when I eat these I can then relax and get some sleep. Walking in fresh air also excellent.
Can I ask whether your ginger baby likes having raspberries blown on his tummy? Perhaps worth trying; put some velvet bags over his paws and wake him up this way? Another diversion that works for me in the small hours is fairground monkeys. Choose 3 characters: living, historical or fictional; human or otherwise. Give each an instrument, and then set them playing. One of the best to date has been Elizabeth Fry on the hurdy-gurdy; Rip van Winkle on trombone; and Einstein rapping. I laugh myself back to sleep...
All you need to do now is join your adoring public in realising just how wonderful you are love Humdinger x9 -

I’m getting there - just mad busy. I’ll check in properly either tomorrow or over the weekend.
It’s been another bizarre and hard week with loads of ups and downs and tonight I’m in a reflective mood and feeling tired. I’m so sad to hear the news of PF - everything just seems a bit small and pointless at the moment x
