Checking in for NSD number 17. Work is keeping me really busy, today I went on a mental health first aid training course which was very much needed. Have to remember to take care of myself, I am definitely starting to take work home with me mentally. I even dreamed about a high risk case I'm holding at the moment, not good! I will be booking a short break this weekend somewhere, I need to get away and to have something to look forward to.

Today I am grateful for excellent training courses, for it being Friday!!! And for not being in pain for a few days.

Today I am grateful for our stash of balm tissues for dd, for her good-naturedness, for working on her city project and seeing good progress, for working central heating, for the bowls (thanks mothernerd! Dd + I both enjoyed it but dh insisted on turning over when he was in the room!), for leftovers for lunch, for fresh drinking water.

    Evening all...

Not an NSD today I'm afraid... I got pizza! It's been a long week! I've now come in though and don't want to undo all the good work I've done (which I normally do!) so I'm saving it for tomorrow night so I can try and stick to my calorie count for today.

    Today I am grateful for:

    1) New friends
    2) Laughs and giggles at work today
    3) Birdsong when I got to work and when I finished

Have an awesome night all. I'm out tomorrow so may be a late check in.

I feel like it's been a long day and a long week. Went to mum's, put all the tins away in the soup cupboard, went with mum to her podiatry appointment, made the new appointment and have to make another (sore on her leg from when she fell in the shower need tackling before it turns into an ulcer), booked a 4 day break for us in March and came home.

Since then I've been reading and dozing (I now put my mask on if I feel myself drifting - sometimes I sleep and sometimes the extra oxygen wakes me up again). Still fearful that the bug is coming back for the next round so resting is a good option.

Today I am grateful for a gorgeous belated birthday card, for the appointment because we might not have noticed the problem with mum's leg and enjoying a quiet time (regroup and sort things in my head).

My February budgets started yesterday so all money moved to relevant pots. Bought dog food yesterday it was £5 off so I may go back and buy next months sack before the offer finishes. Finished my library book yesterday and collected four more that I only reserved on Wednesday - excellent local resource. Had £9 left from January's grocery budget and managed to get all the fruit and veg that I needed from the greengrocer in budget.

Planted my fruit trees Thursday and I must remember to go out and water them again today as it is pretty dry here for a change.

Was rudely awoken during the night by the most horrific screaming I've ever heard, I thought someone was being murdered, it was 3.30am, I got up and looked out of the window, it was coming from the churchyard area, there was not a soul about, no other sounds so I concluded it was a fox, they do sometimes make the most awful noise - I hope it is ok.

Plan for today is to get DD to work, DS is having a haircut, then DH and I will walk into town the long way, I need to get coffee beans and a few other bits and bobs. Am hoping to sort out our holiday plans this afternoon.

lcc86 - I am having regular dreams about being late or making the kids late, they are quite stressful and involve a lot of running or in last nights dream a lot of 3 point turns.

  • Morning everyone
Made it through week 1 of my new job :)
On Thursday I went to pilates and then to DD1's bestie's for tea; she gave me some leftovers to take for lunch on Friday. As I can't always get to pilates due to work, my teacher has given me a deal to pay as I go at a reduced rate
Yesterday had a nice chat with a colleague who started the week before me - he was very grateful not to be the new boy anymore! Went to my literature group in the evening, really enjoyed it. Had an early night and was asleep before 11.
Not doing too well on NSDs, spending less than £10 each day so need to be more organised.
    Gratitudes:
Lovely supportive inspiring exercise teacher who lets me pay as I go
DD1's bestie for feeding us on Thursday and sharing leftovers
Quiet day in the office on Friday so I got a nice seat by the window
Interesting 2 hour chat at literature class about the book we had all enjoyed

They make a horrible noise, don't they? We once lived in a very isolated farmhouse out on the salt marshes, and it would scare the children. It isn't a sign of distress or injury though, it is mating season for foxes, and they make this sound to attract the opposite sex :)

Deni - well done on getting the first week under your belt.

We have plenty of frisky foxes on our estate and we're not at all rural or isolated... Pesky critters!

We live a couple of hundred yards from a canal bank which is then fields the other side - we also get the frisky foxes! (and badgers disturbing the garden - they make huge holes to get through places!) (and pheasants, partridges, loads of squirrels... we sound really rural with all that but we live in a 23 yo house on a modern estate - we just happen to be at the edge!) :D

Had a bath last night and washed my hair (DS3 got to the bathroom before me yesterday and by the time he had bathed I only had time for a quick wash) which made me feel much better. Slept half sitting up and am a bit better still. However the cough/ cold could go either way so going to take it easy.

QUESTION EVERYTHING Nothing for breakfast this morning! Why does this keep happening? - because I'm not planning forward enough so end up shopping to fill a gap and buy the wrong things / not stock up on what is required. Sometimes I won't buy things I see as 'luxuries' but the cost of buying something to fill a gap is much more.

Currently writing a list of food items alongside meal planning and 'food gaps' - yoghurts or apples for breakfast (had tinned peached as an alternative today - lateral thinking), cooked meats for sandwiches, made up sandwiches/ extra cooked meat in the freezer, buy some small bottles of milk to keep in the freezer and refill and replace when I next buy a big bottle.

Other lists (neural transmitters firing on all cylinders atm) include kitchen essentials, Consider every possession (variation on question everything), 5 minute jobs, snagging. To be honest it's only 2 pages and first page had cooking/ meal ideas down one side and shopping on the other. It's more like brainstorming but need to get things down as they occur to me.

Think I will do the food orders for next month this weekend in case the laptop breaks and maybe put in the next two orders for mum. Also writing a list of small 'diy' type purchases - replacement lightbulb for my bedroom (using the reading lamp for now) and a good trowel - I had several but I think I rounded up those that had given up the ghost during the garden tidy (I know mum broke my best one after I had taken it to her house - she also tends to claim any items that I leave there for any length of time).

Have a good day turtles. Remember - whatever you are doing today, do it with the confidence of a four year old in a batman cape.
