Some providers guarantee the price for the length of the contract, such as TalkTalk and Shell.

Be careful with talktalk as while they guarantee not to increase the price of your broadband they happily increase the price of your phone calls/free call package, and because the cost of your broadband has not increased there is no option to leave your contract early.

There are many reasons to be careful of TalkTalk. I for one would never return to that godforsaken company.

Sorry, but I had to laugh at the above. You seemed to go from recommending them to damning them in one breath ;)

Thanks for that - the Now deal seems good but I won't put any money into Sky for many reasons, the main one being their exploitation of a customer base (I mean, forcing people to take an entertainment package just so they can get the sports/movie package).

    Exploitation??? Forced???

What nonsense, if you don't want Sky then go for NowTV where you can get Sports and/or Movies on their own.
A relative tried to move to Now and after a long wait for installation didn't ever provide it.

Their customer service was worse than useless, ignored emails, hung up on calls, so I wouldn't touch them even if it was free.

Don't know what went wrong for yourself but I've had their BB for a couple of years and used the streaming services for sport and whenever I've required their help they've been excellent and very quick.

Good to hear NowTV have been good for you but my relative's experience was anything but good, hence my aversion to them.

Everyone will have their own wonderful or horror stories from all sorts of companies which influence their decisions.

o2 are still bottom of my personal list. :)

I did nothing of the kind. I made a comment earlier in the thread that Vodafone were one of the companies that may change the contract price:

I am leaving, however, because they sprung a mid-contract price rise on me, so bear in mind that they are one of the providers that reserve the right to do that.

In response to this, another user asked which providers don't:

To which I gave an answer citing two examples:

At no point in this exchange did I "recommend" TalkTalk or Shell. I merely cited them as examples of providers that guaranteed the price of the contract, in response to a direct question about which providers did that.

It is often the case that complaints arise from poor customer service or the steps taken when things go wrong. Good service recovery can go a long way to mitigating issues.

My o2 experience with their broadband was fine until cheaper, better offerings came along. Didn't mean to imply I was having a go at o2 broadband with my earlier statement.

    o2 mobile though.....
