Vodafone broadband - good, bad?

Sounds like would still be safest avoiding Vodafone then, from reading all the above.
Currently with Virgin, on fibre. Have been for 16 years or so, just the odd blip in continuity now n then but mostly been excellent provider. If this feedback helps (albeit on wrong thread).
Looking to change (due to package price) but seems there's no other decent providers out there for a decent price!Friendly greeting!0 -
on a general point about Vodafone they have been great for 18 months ( despite the controversy over their speed guarantee)
What I would say is that they have managed to really annoy me on the way out the door.
I switched to Plusnet in December when I had a price rise warning but they insist they were not told and are /STILL/ billing me ! Pretty dodgy behaviour for a big company and a true nightmare if you ever have to call them up. You will get handed around despite no one being willing/able to accept responsibility.
Plusnet seem to have it all automated properly and helpful people manning the forum ( touch wood)0 -
similar problem here, I believe what's meant to happen is that your new provider informs open reach who then tell the old provider who are meant to let you know that they are aware and if there are charges to pay, in which case you still have 14 days to cancel.
Sky have done the same to you as Vodafone just did to me, ie did not bother sending out the line take over warning like they are meant to. Presumably in the hope of getting the early termination fee before you realise ?0 -
Just to give an update on my post above -
I put an official complaint in and requested to Vodafone that they end my contract as I am not getting the service I pay for, I then received a phone call from Vodafone a few days later.
The complaints department apologised for the way the twitter team had treated me and he said he is now looking after my case and an engineer will be at my house in two days times.
He booked the engineer and said he will call me back on the day the engineer visits.
Two days later the engineer visits and Vodafone called me back, actually phoned me just as the engineer got here.
As engineer had only just arrived, Vodafone asked if they could phone me back after the weekend and once the line has settled, so he arranged a further phone call with me for Tuesday as he was on leave on the Monday.
The engineer informed me there was two faults with the line and he will fix it by the end of the day.
Line is fixed and I now have no issues, I'm getting a DL speed of 79999 to my router which is the best speed I have ever had with any provider, Line is only capable of 80000.
As promised he phoned me back on the Tuesday, he had already logged in and seen my speed, checked I had no drops outs and asked if I was happy.
I said I was happy but all of this could have been fixed in December if the twitter team done their job, he agreed it was handled badly and refunded me for the month of December.
So Line speed, connection & complaints department all good, their customer services is horrendous though.0 -
I have been with Vodafone for 18 months and never really had an issue, Their customer support is a nightmare to get through to actually talk to someone but when you do I found them very helpful (that cannot be said for their automated help which just hangs up if it doesn't get the responses it wants) but the humans are great. In fact when my internal telephone extensions stopped working (and so I lost my broadband) they gave me unlimited data on my mobile until their engineer had visited to try and fix the issue (in the end the issue was with my internal wiring not the phoneline).
Probably not related to this thread but I was switching to virgin but have had nothing but issues with install dates being delayed again and again, Their support is useless. No one cares, even if you say you want to cancel.1 -
The whole point tho is that, as I explained, so often you can't get thru. You get a answerphone message to phone back during opening hours. This happens when you are actually phoning at say lunchtime or tea time and most definitely not when they are closed.0

I've been with Vodafone for 18months now, moved from Sky,
At the very start I had a lag when loading certain things like Youtube clips etc, updated the DNS Settings to Google and worked fine after that.
Due to all the IOT stuff I now have I ended up getting a beefy Netgear router which the vodafone one is plugged in to, I get 76Mb and have no problems at all,. I am also on our local Facebook group and in our area Virgin customers seem to have constant issues as do Sky. I've never had a single drop out that I am aware off, so more than happy with them so far,0
