I am late to the party this week as have not been well and this has massively set off my anxiety. All energy has gone to coping techniques. On the money front my big achievements are/will be:
-Amazon the gifts for distant nephews and nieces AND take the money for that out of the joint account as they are not actually my relatives! DONE
- Resist, resist, resist the multitude of ads inviting me to treat MYSELF for Christmas. So far I have done really well and got myself NOTHING whereas usualyl I crack and buy myself a few presents I don't think anyone else will get me. Not this year!
That's really it. Am using up tins in the cupboard, freezer food. Have ended up hardly driving to work this week cos of illness so in a way that's saved 100 miles of fuel.
This week is the hardest for me in the whole year - so many ads, a fear of not getting gifts, cold, often a bit down, wanting comfort. BUT now I am able to say, this thing won't help me. It's an object.
:-)
I know I will slightly crack next week and get some new Barry M nail varnish, and I really want something to wear Xmas day (jumper maybe) not my usual fleece and jeans as we actually have a guest this year. But I'll see if my old velvet top fits me first.PEAK Dec 2019: £24,273 -- NOW Virgin £2377 Markses £681 Halifax £6143 Loan £6696 Family loan £5819 TOTAL: £21,706 -- Paid off: £2308. Afternoon all
Miserable, rainy day here again
Still no word on the boiler part
Apart from that:
Babysitting this morning, but I managed to get a few things done beforehand:
Quick tidy round
Pulled everything out of the airing cupboard and put away
Cut up an old, holey pair of leggings that was in there to make cleaning cloths, instead of binning them
Put some stuff away in the eaves cupboard
Made a Dundee cake
Paid the window cleaner, so not a NSD
Lunch from home
Still to do:
More coffee
Make a game terrine for Christmas, using up some items from the freezer
Dinner will be cold meat left over from yesterday with jacket potatoes and salad0 -
Thanks LuckyLady! Love the Xmas emojis!
Feeling better now I've finished work til Jan. Company at Christmas means more 'free' time dog walking and sitting around chatting not 'expensive' time shopping or going out-out.
I have now bravely added the extent of my debts to my signature (I think) to motivate myself to reduce that big total, little by little, over the next four years. Thanks to everyone on here, I really feel better reading the small things people do to stay on track and build good habits.PEAK Dec 2019: £24,273 -- NOW Virgin £2377 Markses £681 Halifax £6143 Loan £6696 Family loan £5819 TOTAL: £21,706 -- Paid off: £2308. Well went into work for a day of 'talking to' by external moderators, and not so popular boss told department how much we have improved under her leadership. Pause. She is one of those bosses that only step in to the role when the spotlight is on, and then let everybody fight for themselves the rest of the time.
Anyway went out for pint w team on way home, great moan and cheer with lovely colleagues. Might work half day cover tomorrow, otherwise gifts... gifts ... gifts ... relax, relax, relax and run or swim.
On the MSE free work lunch, spent £7, 50 in pub and £6 on a bottle of wine for a glass at home, as had to drive home from pub.
About to make dinner from stuff I bought yesterday for my top up shop which is meant to last until Monday when we go away.
Got no gifts or cards for colleagues - am a bit embarrassed, but will get new year treats - might not be a first.
Am hoping to watch Atlantics tonight on ds netflix subscription.I have now bravely added the extent of my debts to my signature

Hi December Devotees,
Feeling proud of myself today...I completed by challenge! :T
Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Five:
* Checked online banking.
* Completed my 500 miles Challenge where I set myself the goal of travelling 500 miles for free before the end of 2019: walking, hiking, climbing, cycling, running and swimming. Did a 10 mile walk this afternoon. Absolutely cream crackered now. 504/500miles. Thanks Ziggy for the suggestion.
There have been a number of benefits to doing this:
- A free way of keeping fit.
- Good for my beleaguered mental health.
- All the time I've been off out on the challenge I'm not spending money.
* Simple toast for breakfast.
* Alarm clock off at the wall during day time.
* DW bought veg for 15p in Lidl.

Ally that is impressive. Hope your knees and ankles are as happy as you are :-)
Looks like I have the morning off. Time to tidy up the house, do a bit of vacuuming, laundry, paid for school dinners in January to sooth my January angst.
Am waiting to get ex's contribution for ds bus pass £300 per term, I pay £200 as am owing ex money for children's citizenship, the fees now deemed unconstitutional, except my boys weren't born here - so don't know if it applies.
