TC77 said:Advice please! I have a large metal jam making bowl - around 50cm diameter with handles. I don't make jam but my dad did (and I may). It's been on a kitchen shelf taking up lots of room and I used to hide treats in it but my young people know they are there and we're trying to be healthier. I don't want to part with it if I can find a good use for it. Had thought of coal as have a real fire (I hardly use) and a coal holder belonging to ex that I can get rid of but the jam pan is attractive in its own way probably not next to my v smart fireplace. Conscious that if someone trips over it might not be good so really welcome ideas. it's about 13/14cm tall. Thanks fellow declutters.....OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Well, I have got rid of quite a lot of stuff over the past week. Some of it is related to my job, and is no longer needed now I have retired:
655 - 764: old books, many in poor condition
765 - 774: unwanted DVDs
775: computer side table to daughter and partner
776 - 780: paperwork shredded
781 - 785: magazines given away
786 - 789: old spices thrown away from kitchen cupboard and jars recycled
790 - 798: broken laundry hamper, 2 storage tins, 2 money pots, 2 plastic boxes, broken plastic joining strip from kitchen cupboard, pair of old socks.
I hope you all have a great Sunday10 -
supersaver1000 - Thanks I think you're right about the jam pot, however, not quite ready to let it go - I've moved it from the accessible kitchen shelf on top of a tall cabinet which has lots of glassware (not my china that's in a cupboard in the living room). And it's alongside another metal bucket type pan which having looked on line may be another jam making pan..... at least its out of the way. I think I will offer to my DsisL who has a big garden with fruit trees, cooks alot and is very kind. If not, will go but may be part of next year's 2021 decluttering!823 - large poster for RE by DD2 a few years ago, I asked her if she wanted to keep , answer yes, but when I said to keep in her room she said no. I offered to take a pic but she said no - now recycled.824- 825 - tidied sewing box, not alot out but odd threads, bent needles and a few buttons. sorted buttons for current clothes from large box of others - Keep thinking may be good for craft project826 - old pudding rice (open sachet been there years) Have a jar of grain which is unidentifiable - possibly pearl barley and debating whether to just put it in a soup or stew as an experiment!(all from yesterday but hopefully more today).Happy Sunday11

I am making up a bag for the charity shop when this is over. I'm keeping it outside in my garden storage box so I don't have it cluttering up the house.
So far I have two pairs of trainers and 4 books in the bag.

TC77 - I really understand, you need to do it when and if you are ready. I have gotten rid of some sentimental things in haste sometimes, and I think its best to do do it when you are ready. I decluttered quite a lot of MiL's ornaments last year and bought some curtains and blind fabric with the money. I don't miss the china and its lovely looking at my new furnishings, but it had taken me about 15 years to get to that point
Today has been busy, not a lot of decluttering, but a good day anyway:
Washed the car, so decluttered a load of dirt and leaves that had started to take root in the paintwork!!
Decluttered a few weeds from the garden.
Decluttered a few calories with over 12,000 stepsOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Evening MrsSD and fellow declutterers, just checking in really to say hi and post a quick update. Tidied up daughters bedroom today, 3 hours of a job! Anyway, despite the protests from her, it's been tidied now. And my 8 year old girl is now very happy. One full litter bin ready to go to the wheelie bin of various bits of paper and detritus (have I spelt that word correctly?). Take care everyone 🙂14
