I have a load of lead crystal glasses that belonged to my grandmother. She had them for donkeys years and they were never used - most still had the labels on.
She left them to me when she passed, initially threatening me that if I broke any she'd come back and haunt me. After negotiations we agreed I'd take them if she accepted I would use them, and if using them meant breakages so be it.
Some of them I do use, and they are lovely. But some of them (particularly the little thimble sized ones) I have no idea what they're for and suspect the days of lady like sipping are long gone. So I looked into selling or donating them, but in the antique shops there's lots of them and so low priced I suspect there's no real demand. But I don't want my grandmother's prize possessions to sit unloved on a shop shelf before being dumped. I'm not using them but I still care what happens to them.
Help. What do I do?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I am decluttering some habits and creating some new ones during this time. It had been my habit to visit supermarkets maybe four times a week. However I now have a veg box delivery and have shopped once in 8 days. If I can continue this when “normality” returns I will have gained a load of time and energy!
I have also been scheduling specific days for changing and washing things, eg towels and bedding as I wasn’t really keeping track of when they were done
I am making huge efforts not to waste any food at all (didn’t think we wasted masses before) which is probably helping reduce shopping trips.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?13 -

You may consider there is no such thing as surplus alcohol, but this was the manky stuff people bring you back from holiday. We're reserving this kind of stuff in our drinks cabinet as "sustenance of last resort" in case lockdown goes on a lot longer than everybody envisaged !13 -

Afternoon MrsSD and fellow declutterers, just an update really on how I'm going. Now able to work from the attic now on our 2nd laptop which my wife purchased just before lockdown which has come in handy. Given the condition which the attic was in a year ago, then that's a massive step forward. A corner of this room is now for stuff to go to the tip (when it opens). Downstairs, one half of our bookshelves under our chimney breast has been decluttered and sorted Created another shelf for the books which were dotted around the house. Which helps me when you want to distract yourself. Outside the paper bin is full to bursting and the next recycle day on paper is a couple of weeks off yet. Pace yourself Lee ;-) My wife says I'm tidying obsessed at the moment, but for me it's all about having a focus and plan on what do each day. I was furloughed from work as from last Friday so I'm about to get used to the home life routine. My wife's coping mechanism with her poor mental health is to drink lots of coffee and scroll through social media or listen to audio and to teach our daughter during the week as that helps her with her MH. That's how it is at the moment. I am still trying to create a plan for myself on how to survive the next few weeks (and potentially months ahead). At least I have made a start with some of the big decluttering that has been annoying me over the last few months.12
