so you're prepared to go through all that pain backing up your data, fresh installing, just because you "like" FF, there are many excellent browsers, Chrome,Opera, Brave, Vivaldi

    Just what I was thinking!

There's an old program called Mozbackup that comes in useful sometimes for backing up and creating new profiles ... it's not supported any more but still works as far as I know. I moved to Opera sometime ago so I've no played with it for a while!

and you said you had access to FF on a different PC...copy your profile over to this new installation (link)

The OP has a working version of FF on another machine and has already been advised to copy it over

I can not open my profile and I cannot create one - nothing happens when I click anything from the drop down menu

You dont need to open FF

"Firefox stores your profile folder in this location on your computer, by default:
    C:\Users\<your Windows login username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
Windows hides the AppData folder by default but you can find your profile folder as follows:

Press Windows Key +R on the keyboard. A Run dialog will open.
    Type in:
    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
Click OK. A window will open containing profile folders.
Double-click the profile folder you wish to open. If you only have one profile, its folder would have "default" in the name.
Alternatively, you can find your profile by pressing the Windows Key key and then start typing: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

Find your FF profile on the working machine as above...it'll look something like this
xi0qf5u5.default > right click on it and copy to a usb stick
Navigate to your FF profile on the non functioning machine and > right click > cut the profile stored there onto your desktop so you can restore it if necessary
Load the usb stick and copy the working profile into the profile folder in the non working machine....simples
