Have you tried uninstalling with Revo Uninstaller? It removes all associated 'left-over' files and registry entries.

I have finally got using " Revo Uninstaller" the firefox uninstaller to complete the task and it did find a lot of residue in registry to delete.
I resstarted and reinstalled firefox but although now much more than before only opens a new tab and will not allow me to log into my profile.

I still have not been able to access the additional windows profile I created.

Any ideas what to do now anyone?

Do you mean it opens the generic home page and you want it to open a specific web page ??
(link) and you said you had access to FF on a different PC...copy your profile over to this new installation (link)

I think it should be obvious by now that if you can't switch profiles you have a major issue with your installation.

Backup your Firefox profile, your data, anything else you want to keep and just reload Windows 10 would be the best solution. It's been obvious to me for a while now from your posts that your installation is stuffed and now is an ideal time to do something about it - by nuking it and starting again.

No because it suggests it is a clean install where I would lose everything

I would appear I have to download Win to a memory stick or something else to reinstall to computer
