Firefox wont open

No -- firefox.exe is the executable file.
But you can't uninstall Firefox just by deleting the executable. The problem is more likely to be caused by other files, settings, registry entries, add-ons, etc. You need to uninstall via the Control Panel "Programs/Features" applet.
I did use Control Panel "Programs/Features on a initial and later attempt0 -

I dont use Cortana can I still do this using the search tab on the taskbar?0 -

Have you tried uninstalling with Revo Uninstaller? It removes all associated 'left-over' files and registry entries.0

Right click Win10 start button > Shut down or sign out > sign out0
