I am afraid to say neither of those suggestions worked

What happened when you ran "firefox /p" from the command prompt? Were there any error messages? Did you see the profile manager?

No -- firefox.exe is the executable file.

But you can't uninstall Firefox just by deleting the executable. The problem is more likely to be caused by other files, settings, registry entries, add-ons, etc. You need to uninstall via the Control Panel "Programs/Features" applet.

I did use Control Panel "Programs/Features on a initial and later attempt

Create a new User Account (in Windows, not Firefox). You can delete it later. Create one by typing "add, edit or remove other users" into the Cortana search banner, a local account will do.

Try Firefox in that. If it works, your original account is damaged.

Thank you I will try that and report back

Thank you - Oddly I can open Internet Explorer (Edge) ok
  • Have you tried uninstalling with Revo Uninstaller? It removes all associated 'left-over' files and registry entries.
