I'm aware it's 'up to 31 days', but bank switch offers I've done before were much more efficient than that.
(And don't bank on your wine delivery before Christmas!)
Some wording says banks will pay within a few days. And do. Lloyds recent offer terms stated they would pay within 10 days. they did. I think Halifax had a similar short time scale.
Others have a much longer timescale - paying with 30 days, or whatever. These can and do tend to take their time.
See, for example, the recent NatWest/RBS £50 cashback for investing with them. The conditions (for everyone) were met in October. The offer said they would pay 'in November'. The payments were made this week, the last week of November. So, in some cases, almost 2 months after the conditions were met, but completely within the terms.
Or the recent Metro referral offer, which stated it was within 30 days of conditions met. Metro took their time and indeed exceeded this for some people.
In the case (pardon the pun) of the Virgin Wine offer the terms state up to 31 days. I fully expect the wine voucher to be sent out 3 to 4 weeks after conditions are met, not any earlier.
It doesn't depend on the bank, it depends on the wording.
(edited to add, 10th Dec, that it seems these wine vouchers are actually being sent out fairly promptly, within a week or two of qualifying, based on what people have reported in the last week or so. But I stick to my point above, which was that in general you shouldn't judge the timing of an incentive by anything other than the timing stated in the actual offer. Z-man)

Over the last few years OH and I have opened current or savings accounts with around 30 different organisations, so we are aware of any possible issues , but I have to say that Virgin Money have beaten us in regard to opening up a joint current account with them.
Its been interesting reading through this thread to see that some people have no issues whatsoever but others have several difficulties.
Our initial problem was that we both have old Yorkshire and Clydesdale logins . Once that was sorted, we applied as old customers and Virgin failed to recognise one of us , despite us both previously having identical accounts. That took 2 calls to rectify. Next issue was that we were unable to add the second person to the application, another two calls involving being told to use another browser and clearing cookies etc, all very strange.. Next problem was that the App would not confirm the emailed link , just tells me to call the number that tells me to use the App. So the App wants me to phone up an operator , who tells me to use the App.
Well , Virgin have beaten me here, shame really as 2% and 0.5% and a crate of wine would be welcome but I realise that it is their prerogative as to who they take as customers .
Am glad that most on here have been able to apply etc but that's enough from me.
Rant over , feeling better now , thanks all

Why did you not just do two sole accounts, using donor accounts for switching? Two lots of 2% accounts, and 2 lots of booze.1

Maximum amounts are usually for accounts paying unusually good rates. 0.5% isn't an earth shattering rate, not too shabby in the circs but hardly wonderful either, so I wouldn't expect there to be a maximum.
Happy to be corrected though.1 -
