Dealt with me on that call, don't know if that's normal. Had to press, iirc, 1, and then 2 (I think!) which was the option for I've got a technical query with account opening (I think!) and then I got a human being.pfpf said:Zanderman, when you called 0800 678 3654 did they deal with you there and then or arrange a call back?1 -
HiMy application crashed after the review section (screen saying we are trying to identify you) then a screen came up to set up a login. I did think I may get something through the post to help me compete the application but it's been over a week now. When I try to complete the saved application online it says 'this username already exists'. I've rung Virgin and someone is going to call me back hopefully.Just thought I would warn others of this problem. I must admit I'm not sure what you can do about it though.Cheers0

I received the Just a few more details and we're done letter today, resumed the application and now everything is set up.Ed-1 said:
How long ago did you do the application? It hasn't resolved itself then?The_Green_Hornet said:
I got the same message but I haven't pursued it as, in the end, I didn't think a case of over-priced wine was worth the bother.Ed-1 said:
Has anyone had this after the 3 multiple choice credit file questions in the application?
I will wait until the next cash switching offer comes along.
So maybe the case of over-priced wine is worth the bother after all. 😳0 -
Yes, I had the same "We need more time to look at your application" and the promise of an email within two days, way back in May when the VM current account first offered the incentive of interest on £1000. It was an application to open a second sole account and I assumed that I'd be rejected because I already had a sole and a joint VM current account (to go with existing sole & joint Clydesdale Direct accounts), but a few days later an email arrived to say I could restart the application and the account was opened*. So, it's a genuine review process (or at least it was originally).Ed-1 said:
Be interesting to know if anyone has been approved after a referral.PRAISETHESUN said:
I'm in the same boat. I applied, was deferred and rejected a few days - got the same emails as well as a letter in the mail a few days later.ovusa said:

How did they notify her of the decline?ovusa said:Ed-1 said:
Did she get the following message or was it outright declined?ovusa said:I know that each bank has differing criteria when vetting an application but Virgin Money Current & Saving account have just declined my daughter's application even though she has an Experian score of 999, no debts and money to deposit!
She got that message after submitting her application. Would have thought Virgin would have contacted her if there was any query rather than reject her!
Their application form has a number of errors as described in my previous post 20 November [page 65]
One question asks: how much do you hope to save per annum - entered £5000.
Next question: how often do you plan to save weekly/monthly/annually - entered monthly. In the review section it then shows £5000 per month
Thanks for applying for a Virgin Money Current Account.
We've given it a lot of thought, but we're sorry to say we won't be offering you an account at the moment and on this occasion we've had to decline your application. How we made our decision
We use a credit scoring system and information from the credit reference agencies Experian and TransUnion. This is to make sure we treat all applications fairly and consistently.
Nothing you can do - Virgin has decided for whatever reason that they do not want to offer you an account. They are under no obligation to do so, so you're better off focusing your attention elsewhere.
* It was after the second sole account was opened and I was attempting to fund it that my problems with the Clydesdale/VM accounts appeared - see earlier posts in this thread. But others posters report no problems.

Is it only people who have had VM accounts previously that are have issues getting the application through?I've never had a VM account and am going to apply soon.0

Never had a VM but still cannot access my current account set up in August! Loads of phone calls & e-mails! They must hate me!Aidanmc said:Is it only people who have had VM accounts previously that are have issues getting the application through?I've never had a VM account and am going to apply soon.0 -
I wouldn't have thought so, I too had never had a VM account and was opening one as a 'back up' current account so no switching involved. I did it all online and it was very easy, account opened straightaway and received debit card a few days later.Aidanmc said:Is it only people who have had VM accounts previously that are have issues getting the application through?I've never had a VM account and am going to apply soon.
I put £1000 in the account for the 2% interest and set a standing order up to transfer £100 a month in and up to now no problems at all, can easily log-on, move money in and out etc. All you can do is apply I guess and see what happens.1 -
No, not just previous VM account holders.Aidanmc said:Is it only people who have had VM accounts previously that are have issues getting the application through?I've never had a VM account and am going to apply soon.
If you've had a Clydesdale, Yorkshire Bank or their 'B' account you're likely to have the system force you to do it by phone as these are all now VM accounts and the VM system seems to remember old accounts of all those banks even if they were closed a few years ago.1 -
I used to have a YB current account and VM forced me at some stage to use my old YB password. They didn't tell me though that it's the YB password they wanted, they just said 'hmh, you look familiar'. By a stroke of luck, I still had the YB login details, thought I give that a try, and it worked! I.e. I successfully completed the application online, and was given my VM sort code and account number there and then.Zanderman said:

I also know of somebody who used to have a YB credit card many moons ago. Like me, they managed to successfully complete the online application by logging in with their old credentials.0 -
Now Marcus is reducing their rate to 0.50% from 11th December the Virgin savings accounts attached to the Virgin Current Account don’t look so bad"Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0
