Virgin Money Current Account

I agree, ID check should be on opening the account, not after you have deposited funds. I had paid money in and back out again to check I had the right acc/sort codes setup, then put in the max amount. And I have the debit card and PIN.
If I end up having to make a trip to a branch then this will probably make the effort for this account to no longer be worthwhile.2 -
It's a very odd account. I have so far sent 3 faster payments to Virgin. The first one on Saturday May 2, then one yesterday and one this morning (May 11 and 12, both working days).
All 3 incoming payments updated the 'cleared balance' in Virgin almost instantly.
But only the payment made on May 2 shows in the transactions list, with a date of May 4, the next working day. So that's 2 days interest lost. Not that I worry about the odd half penny but it's extremely odd for a relatively new current account to have such time delays.
I haven't tried making any payments / withdrawals as my deposits are savings but I wouldn't want to use this account as a 'proper' current account if faster payment transactions don't show at least at the end of the business day they arrived at. Even my ancient current accounts (COOP, Barclays, Halifax, Santander etc) do show incoming Faster Payments in the transactions list almost immediately.
I haven't been asked to supply any ID, if you were wondering.
EDIT: I checked again, an hour after my initial post. It gets weirder all the while. My payment from yesterday is still not listed under transactions. However, the payment I made this morning, around 09:00, now does show in the transactions list, together with a little clock icon. When I click on that, I get the following:

For those with missing payments have you clicked on timeline which gives transactions in and out of account"Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

I applied for this last week when I got a message that some checks were required (despite holding a number of RS accounts). Nothing came through yet so I phoned them just now. Got a really helpful agent who did some checks and came back with this information. If it's an ID check then you can upload documents via the Clydesdale webpages. I scanned in my passport and driving licence first as these are the documents I was advised were needed.Hover over the login icon and then click on the link for 'retrieve application'.Then scroll down to 'continue' where the site asks for the documents, it's a simple drag and drop process. Then click 'submit securely' - all done!Fingers crossed for more action from them.0

For anyone thinking of opening more than one sole and a joint account, here's a cautionary note: be prepared to be rung by Clydesdale's security team!
My partner had a call this morning and was quizzed on why she'd opened more that one sole account and why hadn't she made any transactions since the initial deposit? Her argument that the additional VM account was as a replacement for her existing Clydesdale Direct account which has its interest rate cut next month was grudgingly accepted. Clearly, someone in Clydesdale Bank is monitoring multiple accounts and is worried.....

I can also report two other problems which my partner has encountered:
1. Last Thursday, after successfully opening her additional VM account and sending £1000 to her existing Clydesdale Direct account (to be transferred to the new VM current account), upon logging-in to her Clydesdale/VM bank accounts, although the "Accounts" page listed all the expected accounts (both Clydesdale Direct & VM), upon attempting to transfer money from one account to another, the list of available accounts in the "From:" and "To:" lists displayed only two of the expected accounts and not showing the accounts she wanted. The Clydesdale telephone support people were bemused by the problem ("never seen that before!") and undertook to get the system experts to phone her. We haven't heard anything from them - the problem disappeared overnight and has not reappeared.
2. Don't open too many accounts in a short period of time! Clydesdale send out debit cards and the associated PINs in separate envelopes (which is to be expected). Unfortunately, the PIN paperwork makes no reference to which debit card or account it's linked to - if you get a batch of PINS together, it's impossible to know which PIN to use with which card!

You get three attempts at the PIN before the ATM takes the card so it shouldn't be too much hassle to work out which is which.0
