Others have done both a single personal and a separate joint account.

I opened my Virgin personal online. I just tried to open another online by selecting 'I am already a customer', and used the same details to complete the application form (most of which were recalled by the system). Once submitted, the response was "Deferred - A team member needs to go over your application in more detail. We will do this within two business days and you will be notified by email or text with a link to log in and see the decision."

So although second+ accounts aren't explicitly banned by the T&Cs, they might be using the review process to sieve out those that are taking advantage - but you think by now they'd have had enough people chance it to warrant amending the T&Cs and stopping the applications!

Of course, there's every chance that after the review they might still open up the second account - it could just be that they don't want to run the full automated checking & opening processes twice but need a human just to double check the details.

You have to click on open a joint account to open the second which is allowed -  had both with Yorkshire for years.  They allow one sole and one joint and your partner can have one sole too.

Keep getting error on first page

I've tried opening one of Virgin Money current accounts online (via the Virgin Money website), and despite several attempts I cannot get past the first page.  I have another Virgin account (not a current account) and so have tried selecting that option, I then get an error message saying "something's gone wrong".  I've tried selecting no accounts option and I get the same error message.  I've cleared cookies etc.

I rang them and was told that I should apply via the Yorkshire Bank website instead, but when I queried that if I did that would I be able to see the current account when I log on to Virgin, the rep (naturally) said I wouldn't, but the rep said that even if I applied for the account via the Virgin website I wouldn't be able to see the current account when logged onto the Virgin website?

Can anyone confirm whether the bit in bold in correct, please?

There is a new Virgin Money online site for the current account. This is different from the one for savings accounts and another one for credit cards. However all can be accessed from https://uk.virginmoney.com/

Well, it was my internet security that was causing the issue, so got round that eventually.  Got through the application only to find, like others have, that they can't verify me (despite holding an account with them) so they're sending a letter.

I used the in app live chat feature to ask about opening a second sole account, they didn't see a reason why you couldn't but I wasn't reassured by the answer as they didn't sound confident. Has anyone attempted to open a second account?

I've never had so much trouble trying to open an account.  Both myself and OH applied online for sole accounts, both were advised that they can't identify us so will send letter.  We then attempted to open a joint account.  This time it wouldn't accept because the username (defaulted to an email address) was already being used, even though neither of us use our email addresses to log into our Virgin accounts.  How in God's name do we apply for a joint account, do we have to wait for the sole ones to be opened first?

I’m  sorry I can’t help you as I have Yorkshire Bank Current Accounts so they identified me immediately. Try ringing them on 0800 678 3654 open 8 to 8. They are obviously just checking against Yorkshire Bank details
