  • Having smashed our target this year and then turned our attention to house renovations, we are excited about starting 2021's campaign. Hoping that our bill for renovations will be paid with our disposable income from Nov/Dec meaning a fresh start in January.

Good evening. #42 reporting £781.48 for November, taking me to 81% of my target. On the face of it, a poor month but I have now started making additional contributions to my LGPS pension (I said I wouldn’t count contributions towards this when I started the challenge).

Can I make the target? Realistically probably not, however I am expecting a bigger pay packet in December, and I do have a LISA bonus pending, we shall see!
I think it’s important to recognise savings you are making, whether it’s going into a savings account, LISA or your pension pot.

Everyone has their own way of doing things, personally I only count AVCs towards my savings challenge which means that any core pension contributions (from myself and employer, set to required amount to fully utilise employer matching) are excluded.

    #21 reporting £1,098 for October.

Nothing major to report, just continue to shuffle savings around to run away from rates dropping everywhere!
    #21 reporting £1,088 for November.

Same as last month really. Shifted NS&I Income Bonds to Marcus (now earning 0.7%, but soon dropping to 0.5%), and on a brighter note my S&S ISA had a stonker of a month up 6.3% over the month of November! (I don’t any investment gains/losses in this challenge, just what I save).

Great to see others keep going with their challenges and always so motivating to be saving alongside so many of you, nearly there guys!!

    Hi everyone
Reporting £1111 for November. A couple of big bills this month; paying for our Devon break just before lockdown and also the garage bill for new brake discs and pads which added up to more than I'd budgeted. A couple of smaller bills too; can't resist Euromillions lottery tickets when the jacktop goes above £100mill... and new work clothes when I realised my current waistline won't fit the old gear - damn you lockdown!
Like others on here my S&S ISA has done really well this month too, but I prefer to only count savings on this thread and not market fluctuations.
Just one month to go now!

Our total is a bit higher this month on account of the mortgage finishing and DH finally setting up a regular saver with HSBC - it was still showing at 2.75% when he submitted the form but they did not take the payment for five days so the rate had dropped to 1%
