    Hi December Devotees,

I've been busy out in the real world.

    Work-eat-sleep-repeat

However, have managed a few DFW-style things:

    Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Five:

    * Check online banking. Done.

    * Continue my Challenge 500 miles challenge to travel 500 miles for free before the end of 2019: walking, hiking, climbing, cycling, running and swimming. I'm up to 435/500.

    * Clean house with Stardrops and washable cloths.

    * Yesterday we caught the ferry over to a nearly island, took the camping stove, and had a 'barbecue' beside the beach. It was cold and frosty but also sunny and windless. Entirely worth it as we spotted a bird we'd never seen before.

    * Withdraw 35p cashback from TCB.

    * Not going to see my ice hockey team tonight. Will watch on livestream instead.

Whatever else I can think of when the brain-fog clears.

“Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.”

And I’m over the moon at finding someone else who calls squash ‘dilute’, I get laughed at but that’s what I call it!

In our part of Scotland squash is called 'diluting juice'.

  • Morning all :hello:

Trailingspouse I tend to dish up a portion of tea in to a microwaveable container and then freeze and use for lunches. Stretches meals mush further than waiting for left overs if you dish it up at the start I find. You can choose to label or not depending on if you want to play ‘what’s for lunch roulette’ at a later date :rotfl:

    My list for today;
    Swept downstairs rather than hoover
Washing on, chucked in mr PF slippers if they don’t survive it won’t be a loss as he’s had them a couple of years. If they do it’ll be :money:
    Washing shuffle on rads later
    Triage fridge
    Update present list
Write some cards now they are down from the loft. Smalls did theirs last night
    Packed lunch ready for tomorrow
    Possible make a cake
Check for surveys and PMP, my tablet is fault so doing this on my phone is a PIA but I mustn’t let it stop me
Work out how to send a bulky item back for a refund

Have a good day all. Purps.
  • Trailingspouse I tend to make batches of soup/chilli/pasta bake/spicysquash & chickpea stew and then freeze in individual portions & get one out the night before to defrost. I try to do 1 a week so there is always some variety :D

Other than that LOs, frittata, pasta/rice something.

Currently I have 1 portion of Thai vegetable curry, 6 portions of LO roast lamb soup, a portion of giganti plaki (it's a Greek bean and tomato dish mmmmmmm) and I think that's it!

A bit of fruit and greek yogurt and I'm good for a work shift :D

  • Everyone always seems to do so much better with their plans than I do! Here is a little recap from my week:
4 NSD (Mon, Tues, Thur, Sun) - 3 done so far, and if I spend nothing today, that will be my 4th done
Email uni about spreading out fees (£2000 due in Jan,and £1000 already paid for a course that runs from Jan 2020 to Jan 2021 ) Not done yet, I'll try for next week
Eating out of the freezer and cupboards as much as possible - I'm thinking some kind of bean soup or chilli Yep - 3 bean chili made and another 3 portions left, and a huge tub of carrot and coconut soup - that will be my work lunches this week. Any idea how long soup lasts for in the fridge?!
Do the Christmas planning that I wanted to do last week, make sure I don't buy stuff I already have Plan made, but not yet actioned!
Looking forward to using YNAB for the first time on payday - YNAB isn't very moneysaving but students get it for free for a year Yep - all set up, monzo and annual saving pots used

I've also withdraw a bit of money that I had in funding circle from a long long time ago. Not very much, but it will at least buy my boyfriends far too expensive christmas present! And happy news from British Gas, my DD has been dropped by over £16. Just need to chase Severn Trent now to sort out my incorrect bill and fingers crossed for a refund or DD drop there too.

  • MidsHollie I tend to go 3 days after I've cooked something. So if I made 5 portions of soup I'd freeze 2

Re microwaveable packed lunches - We tend to go the same route as DNMS. When we are serving up dinner or dividing up batch cooking, we mostly freeze it all in individual portions, which makes it very easy just to take a container of whatever it is out the previous day to defrost ready for packed lunch. Sometimes, if we have spare leftover plain pasta or rice, we'll freeze it, leaving room in the container/s, then when we have some leftover chilli, curry, bolognese sauce, meatballs, etc, we'll cool it, pop it on top of the rice or pasta base & return it to the freezer. That way, when Mr F has a late shift, he can take an entire main meal to put in the microwave.

Also, if you put a dumpling in each portion of soup you freeze for packed lunches, you won't even need to faff around with taking any bread. You can easily get 8 dumplings out of a small quantity of ingredients.& they freeze fine. And another thing I do fairly regularly is make a batch of bread dough (500g flour), divide it into ten & make each one into a chunky mini-pizza......a spread of tomato puree onto those, then whatever toppings I've got, a bit of grated cheese, a sprinkle of home grown dried oregano, baked them, cool & straight into the freezer. If you simply foil each one individually & chuck 'em all in a freezer bag, you can just take one out the previous night & it will easily have defrosted by lunchtime the next day.

Today was volunteering for running event - oh boy do I not like cars today. Bake family heritage cookies honey, cinnamon, cardamon and cloves. Went for a swim and then oh boy the mistake was trying to do a jamie 0 vege lasagne on a school night.
It's not too bad - but was not approved by the committee (ds) and it took about 2 hours making it.
So not the planned happy ending to the day.
Have a great start to the week tomorrow.
