Morning all.
Two days off in a row!! It doesn't often happen. In fact, my shift on Monday finished at 12 noon, so I feel like I've had 2 1/2 days off. Being at work for 7 tomorrow morning will be a bit of a shock to the system.
Anyway, I got a lot done yesterday - cleaned the attic, removed the old toilet seat that the lodger broke, hoping the new one will fit (why is buying toilet seats so complicated!!). I took the cost of it out of his deposit, so at least it hasn't cost me anything.
I'm having a bit of a lie-in, but will get up soon and get on (and I've already had breakfast, checked my emails and written my blog ready for tomorrow!). I need to -
- clean the bathroom
- do a task for the training I'm doing at work. They give us time during work hours, but I need some peace and quiet to do this particular one.
- empty the bins and put the recycling bin out
- make stock for soup. Or I might use it in a risotto tonight, seeing as I have the time.
That's really not a lot. If I crack on I could have it all done in an hour (set the stock going, clean the bathroom, empty the bins, then do my task, then strain the stock. The recycling bin can wait until this evening as it doesn't get collected until first thing tomorrow morning).
Then I could do Something Else for the rest of the day. Ooo, what to do!! Looking at the weather, it's going to have to be something Indoors.
Ha!! I've decided to visit Bolling Hall. Admission is free. They don't open until 11am, so if I go after lunch I won't be tempted to buy anything to eat. It's only 8 miles away, so the petrol won't break the bank either. The weather is truly foul, but I'm not going to let that stop me. If we didn't go out in bad weather, we wouldn't go out at all!!
Have a good Wednesday.

Hmmm week slightly derailed by unexpected need for birthday gift for DD friend last night. A tenner in the envelope is now standard as they all grow up, but until that point had spent nothing!
Then derailed again by six quid for school film night, raising cash for ptfa. I'd mind less if I hadn't already dropped off eight bags of clothes for them to sell to raise cash.
Still got to pay for flipping nativity tickets!
Today is my fault, fiver on coffee at lunch after a stressful mtg, left the office and walked to recover. Cake was worth it but feel bad for letting stress dictate spending.
This leaves forty quid for rest of week including food shopping! That should be easy, except we're going to Xmas market at weekend and planning for their lush potato curry! Might get OH to stump up for that.PEAK Dec 2019: £24,273 -- NOW Virgin £2377 Markses £681 Halifax £6143 Loan £6696 Family loan £5819 TOTAL: £21,706 -- Paid off: £2308. Well work to do list postponed till next Thursday, so I' in a much better mood. Went to work this morning and got the school I was going to upgraded initially I was going to the same miserable school as yesterday but was delighted to get a changed booking. Longer drive so am now out of gas - but what the ... I'm ina better mood.
So brought lunch, opened Help to Buy account, will eat rest of dinner from yesterday later, kept my kids out of my work stress - they don't need that, am thinking about going cash between now and Christmas for shopping and weekly spending - must rein in any unplanned spending.
Got DS to fold laundry last night, so will run a machine more before I go out and just hang inside. I think thats about it.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Tryingagain, I'm not sure how old your kids are but mine are both in comp this year and its cost a lot less already! The xmas fayre needed a donation (one took toiletries and the other a bag of wrapped sweets ), they went to the fayre but as it was their own spends they were using they only spent a couple of quid and then came home
In primary we used to be there for at least an hour and come back at least £15 lighter plus then nativity/concerts. I'm far more chilled with it this year!
Trailing, hope you had a nice afternoon out
Dnms, hope the dentist visit went well.
Dawn, hope you had a better nights sleep last night

Evening folks!
A late check in from me but I haven't done anything exciting. Just work (I am feeling very tired). Came home and whizzed the hoover round the living room as it was a tip. OH appears to have abandoned the regular housework of late due to various other things (apparently part of it was my fault for being home earlier :rotfl:)
Just going to have tea and mooch about til he's home. I have treated us to some snacks for tomorrow as apart from the car going in for its first scheduled service, neither of us intend to move from the house. Probably not even the couch.
Have a good evening folks

Hope you've all had a good day.
We all took pack lunches to school, and all set for tomorrow's pack lunches.
Saved bus fair as the oldest 2 kids walked home from high school.
Tea was spaghetti bolognaise (mince from freezer) with garlic bread (bread from the freezer, made my own garlic butter and toasted)
I've had £29 I claimed back for my dentist appointment put into my account from health insurance.
Also I sold a bundle of clothes on Facebook so made £7.
So a NSD! And I'm £36 up! :j
Have a lovely eveningmortgage £800 overpayment 2022. £600/£2400 2023 🙂 savings £1853/£1800 😊0
