  • Thanks for posting this. I have had Classic Essentials and Cash Accounts with TSB for a couple of years now, running my monthly bills through them. Only last month they finally accepted me for a Classic Plus account and I've since moved all my banking from Yorkshire to TSB (keeping the Yorkshire account open for any future switching offers). After reading this thread I headed to Quidco and opened a Classic account through it. Had to set up a new internet banking profile but I just used the same email/mobile details as my current one and it merged the new Classic account into my existing profile within 48 hours as had happened when I opened the Classic Plus. All very easy as I've come to expect with TSB. Quidco didn't track immediately but a quick support ticket sorted that. No problems.
  • I opened two accounts (thought it was worth a go as I can't see anywhere in the Quidco T&C about not getting cashback on more than one account) and neither of them linked but I had no problems transferring the money. Maybe it's because I did it over two days - transferred £500 in one day then transferred two amounts of £200 and £300 out the following day.

Well just topped mine up with £1500 to gete max interest.
Set up a S/O to fund from Santander acc, and then tried to set up same with TSB. Got message to give them a call.
Had to go through Equifax security to prove who I was (easy multi choice questions) and was advised that when login back in a pop up would allow me to authorise the S/O. Well 3 browsers later still no pop up. All had pop up blocker turned OFF and I fully rebooted computer as well.
But it did let me set up a future dated payment so that will do for now.

The left hand in TSB doesn't just not know what the right hand does. It probably doesn't even know there is a right hand.

My confirmation email says I should "Enter the 3 requested characters from your memorable information" once I receive the online activation code. I was not asked for any memorable information during the application process (in which I used a new userid - not because I want a new one, but because they wouldn't accept my existing one).

They did dutifully send me an activation code in the post. When I tried to log in with it for the first time, as instructed in the letter, the new userid was not recognised.

I was about to make the dreaded call to their CS to ask for help but I did log into my existing TSB online banking first. Lo and behold, there is my new account. If I hadn't lived through the TSB IT meltdown before, I would most likely abandon any plans to bank with them. For now, I am just taking lots of screenshots, just in case I need them at some stage.

Based on the tone of most comments about TSB on here, I'm sure many have their suspicions as to exactly what the right hand does.... ;)
  • Has anyone that opened an account received an email 2 weeks later asking for ID and for it to be provided within a week, otherwise the application will expire?

I managed to open a Classic account on the 1st December and I have received my card, pin and all the welcome emails about text alerts and internet banking. I've been using this account in the last week and at no time during or after the application was there any mention of ID required.

I contacted TSB twice and they said that it would be to do with my new Classic account and anyone that has opened an account within the last few weeks (even existing customers) will be receiving the ID request. The application reference is invalid so I can't do it via the mobile app, so I need to visit a branch. They also confirmed that no letters had been sent out requesting ID!

My query was that the email application and ID check implies that it is to complete the application, but surely if the account is up and running then the application has already been completed.

They still have the right to decline it later.

I have noticed on mobile banking that there is a option to take a selfie & photo of photo id & upload to them.
Not done mine. Will see if I get a letter.

I got the same. The application reference doesn't work. I have ignored the request as I don't mind if they cancel the application. I haven't yet been able to use the account as it doesn't show online. They did send me a debit card for it, and a PIN. I won't be going to any Branch if I can help it, as the nearest one is a 2 hour round trip now.

You can't doe the uploads unless you got a reference number. The reference numbers they do send out / email to you don't work. This is TSB, remember.
  • You could always open a 2nd NatWide ac & switch that to your new TSB CP with a referral..
and bag the quidco £50 + £75ref bonus + £45 interest and £75 for the referrer...

How would that work though? I am thinking of referring my partner to TSB as i have an account with them. TSB provides a link that the "friend" has to use to apply and qualify for the £75 bonus. How could one bag the £50 from Quidco and the £75 Referral Bonus, if both are via separate links?
  • I also have the same question, if someone can confirm this. Does this work like Nationwide referral scheme where you are given some code?
