  • Thank you Skinty

I've not got a confirmed date, but didn't think bestie would actually get going so quickly!
    - don't recall telling TomBo 😶 dropped it into conversation when he got home and we both wanted about work, managers etc.

I'm coming up with ideas to personalise the room as it doesn't currently feel like a mini beauty salon. Ideally gender neutral, hence being cautious with 'my branding' too. A couple of voile curtains pinned into an upside down v shape with my branding in the middle on the wall first seen when walking in, posters, 3-fold cards for the expensive brands on units and a nice aroma should make a difference.

I started the price list, need to check a few prices of treatments I've obtained since doing the research, select an appropriate font and decide on layout.
    - I've a section to jot bio ideas down.

We had homemade tomato sauce with pasta, topped with cheese.

Had a bit of a varied busy one today.

Moved estate money to a zero interest account, closed the original one after printing all the statements.

Wrote a short bio and added it to insurance and SM, together with my logo.

Did 2 free courses for HD products. Brow lamination course and brow lam trial on me; usual trainer.  LVL (posh brand) lower lash lift masterclass.  I'll do the LVL conversion course for lash lift and the other free HD courses tomorrow.
    - passed brow lam and printed my certificate, also printed masterclass and free courses certificates.

I've been looking at how others layout of their price lists and it's a lot simpler than what I had started!

To do list for the week:
    - write draft bio for SM and insurance site ✓
    - tidy away spares
    - pop to 2nd home
    - wax pits (Sun) *
    - do pricelist / poster / pick offers (tomorrow)
    - combine gels (week)
    - do SM ad for bestie to promo my beauty room * ✓
    - do courses (tomorrow) ✓
    - pamper (Sun) * ✓
    - learn to take beauty photos (daily) *

    * Very urgent as I may be in my beauty room next week.

TomBo is very pleased for me and bestie thinks I'll get clients easily.

Placed an order for the posh stuff and was given 2 free gifts of other conversion courses. I'm now able to offer HD brow lam and sculpt; when I pass my normal brow def, I'll be offering HD!

Ink run out and the ones I purchased don't fit, I've ordered from someone else.

Price list is nearly ready, just needs a few tweaks.

I've got 5.5 weeks of rent in my pamper account. Need to open a dedicated account for client payments.

I've been resting all evening and we had roast chicken for tea.

    Those niggles have appeared again.

Did my price list and posters, had to re-do as prices were too high and the same, or more, than hers. Now I'm at 'special offer' prices on a permanent basis 😕 could potentially earn less than NMW per hour and have bad clients because I'm so cheap 🤐
    - I've held back on my 'posh' brands and will bring them in after a few months and bump up my prices, when I run out of lower cost items or when I move to a better run business.

I will not do holistic or massage treatments cheap, when I'm qualified in those and will reassess my position.

We had homemade chicken, veg and barley soup for tea.

Sorry to hear things are not going well with prices ☹️ Will you lose clients if you start so cheap then put prices up a lot after a few months ? Hope you can find a solution. Maybe look for a better run business now?

    Thanks Skinty

It's about charging what I'm worth, as drummed into us during every training session. Cheap has a rep of not being good, regardless of what business or product we buy.

I've come up with an idea of sticking with these prices for now. By the end of next month I'll bring in my "posh" brands and bump those treatments up to what I should be charging, increase the basics by £1 and others by £5. There can't be any grumbles about no experience then 😛
    - I've pulled nail art and extensions from my list as I will not do those cheap. I'd sooner do some mobile services than compromise further.
    - I doubt she even realises it's decent products I'll be using and won't be doing half a rush job; quality over quantity!

I'm in the room this week and need to double check over my equipment and products to make sure I've got it packed and ready to move down.

exciting, sounds like your ready to go! Im glad you have a plan for increasing your prices to what you feel is the right price. Its always really tricky to get it right. But initally it will be really good experience and will build your confidence. Then if this salon is not right for you after a bit you can move on, or go mobile

    Thank you FP and Skinty

You know me too well with my plans, back up plans and back up back up plans 😁

She's got a lot to learn about having self-employed people in and it could back fire if t-x man looked into how little freedom there is and how much is done like an employer. On the other hand she's also going to pass on hints and tips, be available if I've queries or want support.

Good job I spotted an error in my prices as I went over all of them, found more and decided to increase all the basics by £1, now I'm happier! The more 'technical' ones are special offer prices and I've said what they will increase to and when. Advert is live, I created a buzz with potential clients when down and several clients have moved over to me 😁

I packed up my beauty stuff, need to combine gels tomorrow and file additional training manuals as I'll take them each day. Laminated and filed all my certificates, I'll take those each day too; will re-print some to put on the walls.

Done the webinar, need to do the exam before I get that certificate. I'll try and do that tomorrow.

    Just gone very tired 🤭
