  • Hope you are feeling better soon. Last thing you need is for the day job to stop you doing what you obviously enjoy so much. Glad you are managing to rest

  • Thank you SH and Skinty

Hopefully I'm now out the other side of it following a relapse today. Was able to get up about 4pm and I've vegged on my chair.

TomBo went out for the day, had an explore, bit of food and DIY shopping. The kitchen tap has been dripping for ages and as he disliked the original tap he swapped the whole thing for a nicer one; still a mixer but with better lever things.
    - might see if I can get him to do the shower room taps as they don't match. Add a nice lino off-cut and that would instantly 'lift' the look of it. Could even give it a fresh coat of paint.

As you would have guessed, I've not been able to do the planned business admin. I'll do it the weekend, even if it's just adding treatments and prices to a word doc, tidying it up, adding logo etc next week.

I've signed up for an intro to aromatherapy and messaged myself a few potential courses. Thought it would be a nice touch to eventually offer it as part of a Swedish/Indian massage.
    - I'll buy a few short courses payday to enhance my current qualifications and knowledge, it will also allow me to delete messages as I text the links to myself.

If I'm not too drained after my apt tomorrow I'll tint my lower lashes and finish waxing.

Spent the morning being pampered. My hair has layers and is more floaty; I've been told by bestie to only colour my roots.

Got the full background as to why our conversation stopped. Later we all had a meeting where No2 got told everything and she's so happy I'm joining them. I'll soon be the proud renter of a beauty room, yes the whole room for my sole use.

No start date yet as A needs to happen before B can be done, that allows C to be done, then MF gets to move in 🤭

I'm going to look at my prices, figure out my special 'opening' offers and keep practicing. I'll look at doing some local visits, couple of mile radius, build my name up while waiting for the room and potentially the clients would follow me.

To do list for the week:
    - write draft bio for SM and insurance site *
    - tidy away spares
    - pop to 2nd home, glass has been replaced for me
    - wax bee line, pits (Sat) * ✓
    - do paper pricelist / poster *
    - combine gels (week)
    - do SM ad, (amend draft model ad)*
    - lash lift course (Sun) ✓

    * Are now urgent and must be done this weekend

    We had Chinese for tea.

  • Thank you Skinty and FP

I'm back to 'normal' now ☺️

Pits were not too bad, however I've told TomBo he has to be 'me and my client' hands as DIY leaves me no spare hand to stretch in the right places. Bee line was absolutely fine, hip cramp made me speed up 🤭
    - I found doing quarter sections so much easier, also helps reduce any ouch moments as less hair is being taken at once; basically adapted the way I was taught brow waxing and applied it to other areas.

I re-did my legs and am now confident using a full strip for removal and my application is a lot better too; I should have that perfected next time.

Aromatherapy has also been of interest for years, after all regular medication hasn't been around for that long. I've had two books arrive which are sufficient for where I'm currently at and what I'm booked to learn.

I slid into beauty from nails, stumbled into 'hands on' due to the discounted facial course and have been looking into aroma's of oils and creams to tailor Indian head / Swedish massages to the clients for when I'm qualified in those. As I'd like to offer holistic treatments eg hot stones, Thai foot massage etc some very interesting courses are needed. I'll also be attending college PT to gain other qualifications, as that will 'future proof' me in case of changes; can't do that while doing the day job, but will fund it from my beauty money.

I know this will work. I aimed for one thing got it and aimed for another got that and kept qualifying up until ready to take the leap into my previous career and studied for that.
    - Difference this time is I've got money in the bank and a supportive husband 💕

We're having kebab for tea, the one with pickled whole chilli's 😁

Glad Tombo is being a good support. Lovely to have savings too if you need them. You are in so much better a place than when you first joined diaryland.

  • Thank you so much for your continued support SH.

It's definitely been an interesting journey and I've found my niche after a couple of wrong turns. I doubt anyone saw this outcome, it was a surprise to me!

Looking back over the last 14 months the signs were there due to wedding prep. Developing an interest in make up, sorting my dry skin, doing my own brows, lashes and polish, finding the right hair removal. If we hadn't got married most of this wouldn't have taken place, let alone me stepping into a salon and having some pampering; latter being the click of the lightbulb.

Training went really well, completed my model within industry standard time, got my certificate and I've offered it to friends; limited time special offer price. I'll place a local advert later this week.

The trainer had a good chat with me this evening and I've confirmed long-term plans, courses I want to do etc and she's looking into what she can offer or where I can go to get the qualifications 🤗

I'm doing brow lamination training Friday, on-line and £99, with my main training company. Uses the same products as today so I'll be up and running straight away.

We spent a few hours in the garden when I got home, had a bonfire to clear a lot of no6's waste. I cut some wood and weeded some of no6, TomBo dug a strip of their garden. Three showers in one and I still smell of eau de bonfire 🤭

  • We still smell a bit of eau de bonfire 🤭

Bestie asked for my move-in date and I explained ready to go whenever she is. We had a bit of a natter and I'll earmark a month's rent from my pay this week just to be on the safe side.
    - got to get my prices typed up and I'll do intro offers on a few treatments to begin with and get people through the door.

    As for training:
    - brow lamination is booked / paid ready for Friday.
    - I need to complete the aroma intro as I've found products to create a posher feel to the room.
    - I secured some direct training and conversion training as it will enable me to use higher end products for 'luxury' pampers, eg the original trademark co for def brows and lash lift as some people will not have anything less. I'll get to learn about the products, why they work how they do, how to explain things to clients and even up selling.
    - I've a couple of free webinars booked for the facial and massage product side with another company; covers similar things as the direct training. Gives me a chance to see if they're what I'm after.
    - The webinar co have a more luxurious wax and also offer dedicated chest / back conversion training, which would be beneficial to help develop that side.

All in all, a busy few weeks ahead of me. I'll slot it in to my days and will benefit so much from all of this.

  • Hope the smell goes soon. I hate the smell of woodsmoke, it’s why I would never have a log burner.
